The "forever" in that range for me is somewhere around one second, maybe two if I wasn't trying very hard. This has never once impacted my ability to do anything I wanted while daily driving on the streets. I personally can not imagine any street driving scenarios where people are driving around between 5 and 7K ALL the time. If I had not seen the dynos I would doubt I would ever have even known it was there.
Haha same here, I never felt or knew about it until I found out about it on the forum and than noticed it right away.

Agreed here, the dip isn't limiting. The car is quick enough. But feeling it gasp to exhale from about 3600 RPM - 4200 RPM bucks the fun momentarily. I'm really hoping all the changes eliminate/minimize this so that the stock engine's torque is more linear.

even after all these years i still don't know what this torque dip people talk about..maybe because this car doesn't have that much to start off with that's why i never really noticed it or felt it

Subaru site says Winter 2017, could mean Jan through March winter in 2017. Technically November is still Fall.

Good point. I always think of winter as starting in November which is technically incorrect.

I still don't understand the dip in the terms that everyone talks about. I definitely feel a lack of "pull" sometimes, but most of the time its a lot of bogging down low in the rpms, especially if you're in low (3rd)gear and making a sharp, slow turn...most of the time that I notice the most dip or "lack of power" it's in the 2-3k rpm range in the AT..

Regardless of how you feel about the current car, the new version should be even more peppy. I don't think anyone would argue that's a bad thing. I'm sure the refresh will gain a little weight, but I'd be surprised if it's substantial.

Anyone read this? Straight from Subarus website. Sounds like they are finally killing the torque dip.

"Direct-Injection SUBARU BOXERŽ Engine
The direct-and-port-injected 2.0-liter SUBARU BOXERŽ engine has been retuned to provide up to 205-hp. Coupled to a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission with revised ratios, BRZ offers enhanced mid-range responsiveness to your back road adventures."

Not to be a buzz-kill, but it could meant that the enhanced mid-range come from the transmission revised ratio (which will improve acceleration).

On another topic, I hope the reinforcements for the strut tower and larger stabilizer bar are also added to the toyota. And would be nice if toyota also provide a performance version and that the wing is optional because it's not really nice.
