Now is that canon to the original series or from later movies, shows, fan fiction, manuals, etc?

It's just that they require a dealer visit for fixing the software issues. I think my Ram has had six recalls since I bought it two years ago, and at least two of them were software. Bush league bullshit.
Road beta testing is just one of many concerns, but I get your point on other manufacturers doing similar.

I'm all for over the air fixes, but some of the OTA stuff Tesla has done is things I would NOT want done to my car without me approving it first. Reduced range, useless software easter eggs and toy modes and other features that have nothing to do with driving, but all of which add cost to the car, nothing is "free". For that matter, even certain tweaks I may not want done if I'm perfectly happy with the car I own. It would be different if I was leasing it.

I compare this to the valve spring recall. I had a choice of whether to do it or not (well since I don't live in CA). All modifications should be that.

I'm coming around to electric and have always said I wouldn't care if my car is fueled by unicorn tears as long as they were available on any trip I would take, can was no more inconvenient than with ICE.

Heck, thanks to my EMC I could actually charge one for "free" at home as long as I do it overnight. There are four free charging ports in the parking lot where I park my car every morning as well that i can see from my window.

I'd still want to have an ICE in the family though. When the Apocalypse comes its going to be hard to suck fuel out of a dead EV.

Honestly, don't know, I have to sadly admit i did it from memory from having looked it up once, so point taken.

Quick Google seems to say it was first referenced in a Deep Space 9 episode.
The original series really didn't try to explain any of the tech since everybody was just supposed to take it for granted.

The dilithium crystals were not the fuel or an energy source. The fuel for warp drive is antimatter. The crystals just control the fuel.

Well, ACCTUUALLLY, antimatter is only half the equation. Warp drive is powered by destroying matter, also deuterium, when it is mixed with antimatter. The dilithium crystals are used to control the power and rate of destruction.

Therefore it is the "fuel".
Strangely convenient that one component of the antimatter reaction is also the fuel for the impulse drive. That now ruins the whole realism of the tech for me!

Anybody see the new Mandalorian trailer? It's looking to be at the same, if not higher, production scale as Game of Thrones and other large productions.

I'm cautiously optimistic. I'm a huuuge Star Wars nerd, though I actually prefer much of the now non-canon extended universe stuff rather than the OT or newer stuff.

Yep, seen it, looking forward to it, and the new ObiWan series. Bought the 3 year Disney+ deal so hopefully it won't disappoint.
