Why? there is slot in the bottom where you can mount the back up camera. See below. Isn't this better?
It works I guess but feel that the spoiler integration is more classy. My KIA Forte had one mounted in the position you showed and I felt it seemed as an engineering afterthought. I miss having a cam though so at this point anything is better!

BTW, I like the cam you have... Was it a diy?

It will be tough to put this into the spoiler since you need to tie the nut in the back end and with the spoiler, you might have to drill another hole at the bottom so you can access to the nut to tie up the camera.

I've been super busy and kind of abandoned the finishing touches of mine. I used 18 gauge wire throughout. There isn't much of a power draw to worry about needing larger. I tapped power from the radio amplifier like the DIY, just because of location convenience. Don't know if I'm the only one, but this seems to be a bad idea. If the radio is on, there is too much of a voltage draw to run the camera properly. When I get back from my trip, I'm going to power it right from the battery, with a 5amp fuse. This makes sure there's no fluctuation in the voltage or amperage.

Did you not go with the beatsonic? This DIY is way harder than installing the beatsonic.

I am not the type of guy who uses DIY's but i needed it for the correct pinnout of the headunit.

now my car is the 10 Series FRS but all the plugs look the same as the Bespoke.

What am I missing?

EDIT:
Ok I just figured it out, Thanks to a post on another thread, I realized the camera had to be powered within 3 seconds of the head unit powering on. Since I was just testing the wires and nothing is hard wired yet, my camera wasnt powered until later with my power probe. but after giving it power while cutting it on, everything works.

So i wired up like this is written. bought the video adapter from svx guy, ran the reverse wire from the driver side kick panel to the harness in slot two and powered it from my amp for 12+ power and the camera kicks on when the head unit turns on. once i start playing music it wont go back on the camera mode, i need it to turn on when i put it into reverse.

Double check that your trigger wire only engages when in reverse.

Holy thread revival!!!

Did anyone ever figure out what size terminal was required for properly adding the pin to the 28-pin connector?

And is it true that the camera must be powered when the car starts up? The camera I have has built in lights around it so I was hoping to power it only with reverse. Guess that won't work if this is the case....

Camera must receive power when the head unit starts up... you can not power it off the reverse unless you start the car in reverse, then pop it out of gear once the head unit has finished its bootup sequence.

Exclamation

Not sure if anyone has done this yet, but instead of mounting the camera below, possibly it could be mounted directly into the rear fog light housing for a more stealth and oem look. It could even be colored red to match.

You could, but I think the reverse cameras give you better view/perspective when mounted higher up. Also, my reverse camera is pretty darn oem looking, IF you even noticed it.

But, it doesn't hurt to explore

2014 6-speed Monogram (37J)

Ok so nothing is working. I have tried everything on the original post. All wires are the same. I have the bespoke premium head unit and took it to 2 audio shops. For some reason today the camera decided to work. It worked for about 6 minutes. Later on the day it stopped working. What is going on? Why isn't it working on my headunit???? Help. Do I needed this adapter? I have a scion FR-S 13 with bespoke premium headunit. Any help will help. Thx.

Do I need to order this??
-1 Backup Camera Harness(Includes connections for 12-volt jumper harness, 16-pin head unit connection, Composite Video input, Relay, and 12-volt output lead)
-1 12-Volt splice harness(T-harness)
-1 Relay (6-volt input coil)
-1 Butt connector to connect 12-Volt output from harness to the backup camera
