I'm definitely interested in joining a team for tough mudder. I've never done this type of thing before but it looks really motivating. I'm looking for a place to train around the east bay very soon. I'm thinking between 24 hour fitness or UFC gym. I'm still feeling the area out.

Train out side it's better for something like tough mudder. You're going to need the endurance of running a 6 mile without trouble. And the energy to run long steep hills. I didn't need too much lifting weights in my training. I'd say 70% endurance and hill climbing training. And 30% weights.

YES. definitely. Thats actually where i trained a lot. pick a hill and just keep repeating it. if you can hike mission peak twice in a row (up, back down, and then up, back down) you should be good. you get a good rest when you hit the obstacles cause youre waiting for everyone to go. its just when you have to climb long hills back to back that tends to gas you out. training is one thing and knowing the little tricks to get through tough obstacles is another.

I did the 2x training on Mission Peak to prepare for Half Dome. Wasn't bad at all. I'd be down for a Tough Mudder, I have a team from work but the more training buddies the better.

Yea it's a nice hiking trail in Fremont. Around 3 miles up hill.

Great! I'm most likely planning to do the Tahoe one in August. It shouldn't be too cold. And I liked the course in Tahoe at northstar. But one thing about that event.... Is altitude around 8000 above sea level . It definitely affected me. I was out of breath really fast and I got altitude sickness the first day I was there but luckily it went away after I slept.

I got the "Black Friday" special for 24 Hour Fitness. No signup fee and 45 dollars per month for the super sports gyms. I was kinda surprised on how popular the swimming pool is in Fremont. It was never like that in Chicago or even in the Navy of all things, go figure.

I did my special workout with dumbbells, medicine ball pushups, and kettle-bell. I had guy ask me if I was a MMA fighter

You don't get your money's worth if you don't commit to making a habit of showing up to the gym.
