That's the way I see it too. It's the last true blue muscle car; powerful comfy potential strip beast with some aesthetic badassery.

I don't know guys. I was around but very young when muscle cars were in vogue. They were affordable and customizable and could be extremely fast. Now they are politically incorrect. Sound familiar? Most euro and asian domestic manufacturers of that era were unreliable or slow, often both. It is amazing Dodge/Chrysler could make a modern version that is as refined as it is with a very retro body style and heaps of HP and torque. Dodge Chevy and Ford are going (have gone) back to their roots the same as Toyota and other asian marques are now choosing to do, just down a different path. Variety is the spice of life. One day I believe we'll wish we parked one of these monsters in our garage when Barrett Jackson rolls one across the stage 20 years from now. I'm not certain that the BRZ or FRS will have that distinction...

I agree. It's supposed to be a full-size car, and I love the retro styling. I like the concept in general, and I'm glad GM made it.

It's not my kind of car, but I'm quite sure it appeals to someone.

Isn't the idea of a muscle car was to shove the largest engine into the smallest car?

Not really. Muscle cars were performance or sport versions of mid or full-size sedans. They were always huge boats of cars. For example, the GTO was based on the full-size Tempest.

"According to Muscle Cars, a book written by Peter Henshaw, a "muscle car" is "exactly what the name implies. It is a product of the American car industry adhering to the hot rodder's philosophy of taking a small car and putting a large-displacement engine in it. The Muscle Car is Charles Atlas kicking sand in the face of the 98 horsepower weakling."[7] Henshaw further asserts that the muscle car was designed for straight-line speed, and did not have the "sophisticated chassis", "engineering integrity", or "lithe appearance" of European high-performance cars.[7]"

If you look at the same entry, it also specifies that they are built on full or mid-size sedans. Performance versions of smaller cars are usually referred to as pony cars (like the Mustang).
