Ha ha! The beauty of the FA20 is that the head package and cams are optimized for NA. This means the are aggressive for forced induction which is partly why we all can make so much power at low boost It's really not the compression ratio.

I'm looking forward to what we can do when we have some time to build up our FA20 engine program as I think there is a ton more power in the heads.

If you're investing in pistons, removing the engine, yadda yadda yadda, I doubt it would be worth it to use OEM parts. The cost difference, if there is any, of good forged pistons would be more then worth it for the extra strength. Especially if Visconti is tuning your engine.

Guys. The starter is on the wrong side of the block. Only the BRZ/FRS engine has the starter on the passenger side. ALL other Subaru engines have it on the driver side.

The main point is, you won't have an cost-effective upgrade path to a turbo by putting a 2014 Forester Turbo motor in. The turbo assembly itself won't fit, so you'd be going with an aftermarket turbo kit anyways. The turbo long block would cost more than mildly beefing up the current motor with pistons/rods/bearings.

And the 2014 FA20DIT is new enough that we don't know if it can even take more power than the FA20 in the BRZ/FR-S. Too many possible issues, not many possible gains.

However you may be able to use the FRZ shortblock in conjunction with the rest of the DIT engine bits if you really wanted to go that far...

I haven't looked that closely, but doesn't the starter bolt to the transmission bellhousing and not the engine?

I wasn't disputing that the FA20DIT has different heads. I was questioning your proof of those heads being superior or even that our heads are junk...

On a related note, are there upgraded direct injectors available for the subaru system? Or would you be stuck with the power that the stock injectores maxed out at?

I highly doubt the di setup is any different.

BTW long engine is around $5k from Japan. Would be my choice if I wanted a proper turbo engine. Designed to produce 300bhp for 100k+ miles with full boost from about 1500 rpm!

It is different fuel injection, no port Fuel injectors, no D4-S. This engine is the reason Subaru agreed to build the twins, they wanted DIT bad and Toyota gave them the tools to develop it. It is a very good engine, what should be in our twins.

And I agree this will be the defacto turbo upgrade in a few years, notice the quick defensiveness from the largest FA20 aftermarket turbo sponsor on here.

I personally can't wait until swap kits start being developed.

FTFY... You throw a lot of assumptions and conjecture as facts out there. At least throw a disclaimer that its your opinion, not set in stone facts and reality.

(Unless you can show me a video where Subaru VP or Engineering Manager or such stated this). Also, how do you know AVO is the biggest turbo sponsor? Again need facts to prove it.

You posts are misleading sometimes. The only reason AVO is commenting here is because they already looked into it.... And that is a fact
