Can't say I'm surprised, knowing how GEICO operates. I have little to no respect for them. Less than most insurers, actually.

Still shouldn't have brought it up with them.

LOL I'm still shocked how many of you put this off on Geico. They not in the business of insuring racecars.
It's amazing how many of you think this should be on your policies lol

Someone even says call your ins commissioner. Probably not a good idea to call him/ her and cry because your ins company canceled you for racing

Omg

Insurance companies want your money, if they find there's a remote chance they would be put in a liable position where they have to pay out money they will do whatever it takes to avoid that. Even if you aren't covered racing and another racer hits you, your auto insurance company would be sued. They don't want to put themselves in any position where they have to pay out money.

Their whole business revolves around paying out money. What they do not want to do is pay out money above and beyond what they charged for based upon the established/determined risk. That is not a bad thing since it keeps the costs down for those that do not have the same level of risk.

This is why business is business. I never get chummy while doing business. Let's get down to business, let's do the business, let's close the business. Chances of me speaking to the same rep again is slim.

Do a quick search of Geico and race and you will see this ripple is just the latest. Pretty much every performance car forum/blog/news site going back to the start of the internet has a write up almost exactly the same. You would think it shouldn't take anybody by surprise anymore.

I grew up in the insurance world. This is spot on. Glad there are people who don't demonize insurance companies.

Often, I feel that folks see insurance agencies as some sort of government agency, when its actually a regular for-profit business that can't just hand out cash willy nilly.

This is much how I feel for this particular case. I do not believe that Stang70 would abuse the insurance but have little to no doubt there are many out there that would.
