Had the dealer service the oil leak two weeks ago. I've only put about 300 miles on the car because of all the rain the last couple of weeks, but no leaks yet. The plate feels like it was totally degreased, so maybe carefully degreasing both surfaces is the key to getting good adhesion of the sealant.

Recently started smelling burnt oil. Right Rear cam plate, dry as a bone. Front timing cover (passenger side), not so much. Pics to come...

We could cnc machine a plate with a dual viton o-ring grooves. I'm going to check our car to see if we are having the same problem.

Please respond if you would be interested in a billet aluminum cam plate. Thanks!

About a month later and a few hundred miles (one decent expressway trip and quite a bit of around town driving) my plate is still clean. Fingers crossed it's fixed for good.

No oil leaking from our car but I only have 2,000 miles on it. It appears our plate has a large bead of silicone around the whole perimeter. We have the plate off and are going to see if an o-ring solution will solve the problem.

Please develop something, as a flat plate with silicone will eventually leak as the seal is not something designed to last. All manual trans cars will eventually seep from here. Its not a matter of if its when. Constant expansion/contraction of the silicone, vibration along with 200F oil constantly flowing to bottom of plate will eat away.

This is an easy $75 per plate for you that most anyone will buy until OEM TSBs it with a new part.

My opinion is that it's the gasket between the two halves that provides the leak path. You can see it in the factory sealer.
