Who/What Got You Into Cars?

Hi My name is Nate Or you can call by my username Ghostkiiller I'm fairly new to this forum and this is my first post. Who or What got you into cars? I'll start. So originally I was never really into cars as in modifying or racing them. Always thought they were only used to commute and you can only have a "fast" car if you had money. That all changed for me one late night at my friends house. It was mainly us guys this Saturday night Because you know, Saturdays are for the boys. But there was this one girl there I never met her she was a Cousin of one of my friends, well anyway that night her and I talked till about 6am and one of her biggest hobbies were you guessed it. Cars it was all she talked about and she showed me videos and pictures of jdm cars and cars she wanted. Anyways that's the night I fall in love with cars particularly jdm cars. I don't remember her name lol just the cars she showed me and talked about.

Welcome to our forum, Ghostkiiller -

Yep, my interest in cars started when I got bored driving a tractor, so I built my own car.

My dad gave me his '61 beetle to drive around the trails when I was 9. My playground was miles and miles of woods and farmland.

Kashyyyk sounds like a fun place.

As for my story... My parents owned a pizza shop in upstate NY. Drunk people want pizza late at night, and your average driver (kids) couldn't stay out till 2am. Lucky for me, my dad didn't tell me that when I was 'offered' the job when I was 16. Turns out, not ruining hot pizza on what I now call the twisties is hard (Cheese slides off). I must have killed like 20 pizzas before someone complained (yay drunk people!). Rather than tell me just to slow down like a rational person he just gave me some 'lessons' in driving he learned from watching racing (SMH now right?). Well, hes not really an expert, but it somehow worked and I started making it into a game to see how quickly I could make the round trip without ruining the pizza (no one is on those roads after midnight anyway). I guess that's how I came to like driving and fun cars.

For me it was simply getting my license that got me into cars. For me it was more about the driving than the cars though. My dad took me to an autox right after getting my license in an 85 Accord 5MT that handled like a boat. I had so much fun I knew I needed a sporty car. So after doing about 4 events I finally got my first car which was a 95 Integra GS-R. I was actually trying to find a DelSol VTEC (B16A) but settled for the Integra which I thought was ugly. In the end I was glad I got a B18C vs the completely torqueless B16A. I also went on a mission to find a good racing sim for the PC to fill the time between autox events. An autox friend gave me a wheel and pedals and I found Gran Prix Legends and and became obsessed with sim racing too.

I wish! I would love a deuce coupe done up old school.

Like you I got into cars after being bored of driving a tractor from a very young age.

And...

Like so many here my early love of and choice of cars was influenced by a movie.

I make fun of people here that love the original F&F cars even though they have never drove them but the cars that influenced me were about the same age in 73 when I first saw the movie. That movie impacted my car buying choices for a couple of decades.

Saw that movie about 10 times. My first slot car was a 55 Chevy.
