Yeah, like my first sentence on the OP says (not word by word but what it means): KNOW that you need to remove the header and it will be easy....

My experience was different than that.

So did you drive it this morning?? Engine mounts are on my list but just curious to know how bad the NVH is. The good news is that when I'm ready to do the install I'll just have you come help

Car is sitting in the garage. Waiting for two parts to come in before taking it out. I'm hoping to have them installed by Wednesday (some fittings for wastegate lines).

I'd be happy to help you!

once your tuner raises the idle NVH is gone 95%
my idle is at 780rpm
if your dont have a tune yet, you likely wont benefit the mounts anyways, really a great part for the FI crowd, and NA guys who track

Yes, I'm running a tune and FI will be coming soon. I was planning on the Vortech kit but not so sure anymore. A few turbo kits look pretty good. Either way, I def will need the mounts.

I still have nightmares about swapping engine mounts in my garage on my WRX. I think this time around I'll just pay to have a shop do it. IIRC, the biggest PITA on the EJ mounts was torquing the mounts to the block. I do believe the metal cover is there as a heatshield to "protect" the mount from embrittlement/disintegration from repeated heat cycles.

Raising the engine gives enough space here to torque them down, its limited space but workable. But man, getting that driver's side mount off with header on... WOW wow....

Not what I wanted to read. I definitely don't want to have to pull my turbo manifold.

I believe that given the fact your manifold runs towards the front it is very possible you have more room than me. We were SO CLOSE to being able to take it out, yet there was nothing else to do but pull the manifold out.

But keep faith as I didn't do it. -10 knuckles later, it was out
