86 vs Aston Martin Vanquish

No, I'm not crazy. I'm merely quoting Motor magazine (Australia) Jan 2013 issue:

"The Vanquish costs about $400,000 more than a Toyota 86, but it displays the same lurid sideways antics. Not suprisingly, it is even more fun to drive than the Japanese sportscar."

BTW, the 86 costs around $40,000 in Australia and the Aussie dollar is almost at par with the US dollar.

I would hope for that price tag it would be more fun to drive. The fact that it is actually fast adds to that fun.

One stopped by my work yesterday:

amazing car, interior is much nicer than previous astons. Fun to drive too even though I only got to swing it around the parking lot and didn't get to really have too much fun with it. Can't wait till one actually comes in to get some work done and I really get to try it out!

Quite a stretch on that mag comparison! Either way, I love both cars. If my pockets were deep enough though I'd have the Aston in a heartbeat.

I love Astons so much. Seems like when you compare them to Ferraris and Lambos, they're so much more exclusive. I feel like I never seen the important Astons (i.e., DBS, the Vanquish, etc) hardly ever.

If I had that kind of money, it'd be the LFA Nurburgring for me, not an Aston.

Fun is somewhat inversely proportional to weight. Power and speed you can't use 98% of the time doesn't add to the fun all that often...

For looks, luxury, and outright speed, advantage Aston. For real-world backroads-twisties fun-to-driveness, I wouldn't bet against the FR-S/BRZ vs. the 1000-lb-heavier Aston.

But I don't think either car is going to be poaching sales from the other!

Its sill not quite as stupid and/or pointless as the guy who tried to compare it to a Veyron a while back.

I'd go and find it again but I'm not a big fan of stepping in dog poo more than once.

I... love... the... Vanquish...

I lusted over the original Vanquish like nobody's business when it first came out in the James Bond movie "Die Another Day". And the new one? Oh my... Somehow way better! It may not be as fast as a 458 but I would plunk down the cash immediately if I magically had enough to afford one. I'd even take an original, especially a Vanquish S. Screw the twins, lol!
