This has been my experience with my dealership as well. Everything this car does is normal. Chirping? Normal. Hard starts? Normal. Knocking and rough idle? Normal. Knocking while coming to a stop? Normal.

I'm beginning to think Subabru/Toyota have decided that it's all just acceptable at this point. Subaru sold 4,000 BRZs last year and almost 183k Outbacks. I don't think they care.

To me, it might be "normal" but it's not acceptable.

Find a printer and print that mofo out. At least that way you have actual hard evidence in your hand. If they still won't do it, go to another dealership. The first dealership I went to didn't want to do it, but the second one said it was no problem.

I got the new fuel pump installed last weekend. It's been pretty warm here since then and so far no chirps at all. Hopefully that will continue.

At approximately 500 miles since change and still no crickets, and it was unseasonably warm yesterday.

Got the pump in October and today is supposed to be near 80 which is when I'd get the crickets. Hopefully this is the end of this issue.

Just went to the dealer to get the hpfp replaced. I talked to the tech and he said to set up an appointment to get it replaced. Set up an appointment and drop my car off. Get a call saying that the part isn't covered under powertrain. They wanted 1900$ to replace it.

Turns out that the part in the system is listed as a 3/36 part but the tsb says to replace under powertrain. She called corporate and they were confused as well but said to replace under powertrain. Just a heads up in case anyone else runs into this issue. Make sure they look at the tsb and that it says to replace under powertrain.

Have them come to this thread and see everyone else who's dealer replaced it with no issues. Unless you have over 60k miles on it they don't want to do it. I'd go to another dealer that's all. It will eventually work out.

Toyota replaced my HPFP under the powertrain warranty. Make sure to bring a hard copy of the TSB to make it easier. Also, it would be a good idea to make a video recording of the chirping. When I took my FRS in for the repair, it was a cold day and wasn't making the sound. Had to send the recording I took to the service manager so they had proof.

I did the same thing and they accepted that. I think it depends on the mood of the Service Manager too..lol

The sorted it out after i told them the tsb says it should be covered under powertrain. Sadly i told them i didn't want to make two trips to take care of the replacement. I showed the tech the issue when i scheduled my appointment. Took my car in they verified the issue again and ordered parts. So now i need to bring my car back when the parts are in. Reasons i hate dealerships...
