Totally get where you are coming from. However pricing right now is pure speculation, but I am willing to bet that $27k is this car in it's highest trim level, loaded with options (if they are going to have many options that is). any other way and Toyota would have to be mad.

If you take off a few punds here and there it really adds up. Before you know it youre down 100s of lbs.

my personal car went from 3230lb to 2910 lb just doing track prep and it didnt have any modern safety to begin with!

I think they know how to make their car lighter. Not to mention there are less failure points and malfunctions when you least expect it. If youre on teh track and youre cruise control screws up and keeps the throttle open or may you bump into it when youre in the heat of the moment. Boom car meet wall

it would be lovely if they have provided a rollcage....

but i seriously doubt that would happen in a production toyota.

Instead of rollcage extra s-spots in the chassis to stiff up is much appreciated. Adding the rollcage is easy, adding s-spots are harder.

i see your point, but any driver worth his salt will immediately clutch in if the engine stays on-throttle.

Someone did call that there'd be alot of new people to the forum, given the forum's recognition on various automotive websites. Guess it just comes with the territory.

It was bound to happen. With increased traffic comes new members most of whom will become productive members of the community... BUT you'll also get a lot more trolls too. Ignore them and they'll go away.

It's funny that Honda has decided to go down the eco-green path performance be dammed when Toyota has started to back away from that thinking. Toyota realized that there needs to be a balance of performance and eco friendly offerings in your line-up or else you will not be able to grow your customer base. It will be interesting to see how this decision plays out for Honda over the next decade.

Hopefully the success of a lightweight RWD FT-86 Track model will spur more manufacturers to follow suit with their own offerings. Rumors are that Nissan is considering a new silvia and Mazda may revive the RX-7 so just the threat of the FT-86 is already having major repercussions.

It's like the 90's all over again and I love it.

I wonder if they'll delete the rear seats on the track version? Should shave a few pounds

I hope it has AC tho, even in frozen england its always handy to de-mist the windows faster.
