Would the car be competitive in DSP? I'm mostly interested because I've been looking for an excuse to put a lightweight flywheel in my car...

You also get final drive swaps I think with the update backdate rule. |

This has piqued my interest. I'm already on E85, and have an OSG sitting around.
What do you think a build would look like compared to an STX build? More spring rate for stickier tires? Ditch the A/C to save weight? |

I think you'd want all the same parts to start, coilovers, camber plates, header, lca, 17x9 with a 245 Hoosier and see if there's space left for a 265-275, not sure you can fit a 10" wheel up front on stock fenders but keeping an eye out, good on you for considering it. I didn't think you could AC delete in LPSP, haven't re read the rules since yesterday, but the weight drop is pretty small from that iirc,

Doesn't really make sense to me. To fully prep, you basically do everything you'd normally do in SP minus cut fenders and aero. If I wanted to do that, I'd build a DSP RX8.
This prep level is still well beyond STX. I thought the idea behind LP was a bridge between lower prep levels and SP. This is like putting 2 wooden slabs as steps on the other side of the creek. |

Am I reading it wrong? It seems you're not allowed most things, just the few called out. Though I guess some categories aren't labeled at all and I'm not cross referencing at the moment.
What's the point though? E85 and Hoosiers?

I do not even know what to think about this. It just makes classing harder IMO. Either build for the class or don't.
All thought I still feel E85 should be allowed in street touring. "We must have a class for everyone in every car with mods XYZ" -SEB |

- cant cut or flare fenders - can't weld subframe connectors, but you can bolt them in - no SP spoiler/splitter - no tiny clutch/flywheel, but you can still do clutch/flywheel - can't do anything with master cylinder/brake booster So you still have update/backdate, you still may want to do a clutch/flywheel, still have the opportunity to look at ITB's, intake tuning, more open engine management, more open exhaust rules, lighter seats, no a/c and radio, etc, etc, etc. |

I am not sure if its worth it based on the increase pax factor unless you specifically want to be in the class. I don't think the small gains you get here in HP increase will do much, so the hoosiers and small weight drop are the key point.

And the answer is you figure out how to get rid of fender cutting without throwing the baby out with the bath water, 86 is just a useful guinea pig. 'limited prep' and 'full prep' in the same group isn't a new concept after all. I'm interested in ST+Hoosiers, not sure if the FRS is the car I'd want to do it in, time will tell it they got parity right and it they could do it again. |

It's a place for people to play if they want, but a successfully built RX8 should still dominate. No play for a FRS to come in and be competitive IMO.
Just something to help save a dying class that's basically already dead.

Yes to both. ESP was well subscribed as well as a couple other classes. But DSP was sub-10 drivers IIRC at Nats.
And that's at Nats, any other Tour or Pro they struggle to make numbers.
