Like I said in the other thread, they sent me a replacement tail light but the fitment was so shitty that I took it off and put it back in the box. I bought them from fteightysix.

I use to have the Red JDM Toms and had no issues. Not sure how DEPO f**ked up going from a red lens to the clear ones

I'm betting this is some weird effect of the clear lens acting as a magnifying lens and causing sunlight to melt the plastic.

Happened on the Prius on their headlights if the sun hit the car from the front at a low angle. So this kind of stuff happens.

It seems to me from all the pics I've seen that the melting is concentrated from almost the identical area in each case. That tells me it's an internal defect

Yeah we've isolated the issues to the clear Toms only so far

i'd agree. i have the same thing (i actually noticed it soon after i got them) on the driver side light only and chalked it up to something that happened during the manufacturing process, not after installation. it's small so i didn't bother to do anything about it. haven't had any issues the year or more they've been installed.

Well its been a week and a half of frustration dealing with this company about this problem... All im getting are occasional emails from "Albert" about this, and its something that should have been resolved in a day or two.

I had planned on keeping these tail lights on my car forever, but now I'm just frustrated.

Be patient. Do you have any idea how the warranty process works?
End user contacts Retailer.
Retailer contacts distributor.
Distributor contacts Company(buddy club japan?)
Company contacts manufacturer(depo taiwan?)
Manufacturer(sales) contacts Production which in turn contacts QC, Assembly line, Testing Department, Plastic source, etc. They find a fix, test it, then they have to make schedule to make it back on the assembly line, source parts, finally assemble/make the product, package it and then ship it, via boat.(boats are slow, and air shipping is not cheap).

Most if not all retailers will not send you a replacement unless it is an isolated case. They are not going to take a huge loss on a manufacturing defect as they are not the manufacturer. They might send out a couple sets and take a loss, but they won't send out multiple sets and take a $500+ loss X how many replacement sets they send out.

Be patient.

I work retail and for a parts department before, I know exactly how warranties work which is why I'm getting upset about the process so far.

Got my replacement lights, took photos in case it happens again, they show no signs of any issues out of the box. Sent the old ones back.
