I'm curious to find out what the root cause of your failure was.

Two of the most critical parts of keeping the new build reliable. Top is a oil baffle plate from Moneyshift Racing to keep the oil in the pan under high cornering loads. Bottom is the high-capacity oil pump from Reimax Japan.

Is there finally info proving/disproving the Reimax gears? I saw a lot of conjecture about them but stopped following the details

The original Reimax offering was just a stronger OEM sized pump gear. This is a new product that is a bigger gear with a spacer that increases the entire pump capacity and discharge volume, which should help with high RPM pressure. Results and data remain to be seen, however, there are many motors already running this kit.

Awesome, the big metal piece makes a lot more sense now. Thanks for the explanation!

Pics for reference.

The machining required is minimal. 2mm on two dowels on the pump cover.

And the gear/spacer installed on the timing cover without the pump cover

2017 bumper swap is happening!

Got a great deal on it in stock at a local dealership. I have the mustache and the rest of the stuff required for the swap on the way. I'll be adapting my existing brake ducting to the '17 fog housings, and trimming the grille off the separate mustache piece. I'll also be selling my current splitter and getting a new one from Verus as they have a specific model for '17 bumpers.

I've also ordered the ONLY Blitz oil cooler kit for the 2017 bumper headed to North America this month! I decided to part ways with the modified Perrin kit I have. I actually recycled the core as it's too risky to possibly run with bearing junk in it, so the lines and sandwich plate will be sold to someone else who can buy a new core for them.

I love everything about the Blitz kit, though. The shroud that directs airflow, the position off to the side to allow my intercooler but not invade my brake cooling hoses, the braided steel hoses, and a thermostatic plate with two ports for pressure and temp sensors! Very excited about it.

Lastly, I'm bringing the motor down to Mazworx next Friday!

OOo very interesting that your shop kept the stock compression ratio on a full engine build.

My shop was adamant that I lower it to 10.5.

What are the benefits of keeping the stock CR ratio?

Higher CR needs less boost for the same power, less boost means less heat generated. Bonus points for better off boost throttle response. I run E85 exclusively so there is nothing to worry about at 12.5:1.

Lowering the CR just makes the turbo more laggy and requires more boost to make the same power. It may be good for people with 91 octane as their only option, but I suppose I'm lucky to have access to much higher octane fuel.

Mind telling us the cost of the "17 bumper and the rest of the parts to put it together? Thinking about doing this myself.

For the bumper itself, this online retailer (Subaru Parts Warehouse) wanted an additional $250-$300 just to ship it, so I found one in stock at my local dealership for around $250 after tax.

Did you cut out the mustache? Or is it removable?

The mustache and grille are a separate, removable piece for the '17+ bumpers. I have it now and will be cutting the grille off and installing just the mustache, so that portion will look similar to before but cleaner.
