You would be surprised. Most new cars that I have detailed (I had a detailing side business for some time) usually need a mild polish to clear up dealer installed imperfections (swirls/scratches/poor dealer prep/etc).

This is especially important when applying a coating like he did.

Adding to that as well... I picked up my car around September last year.
Being that it is my daily, it ran it through all the salt/snow any my paint was pretty scratched up.

Like mentioned above, paint correction is super important and is pretty much essential for any type of coating/sealant. Opti-Coat Pro is a 2 stage correction process. First is the obvious polish and scratch removal where the second is the primer stage for the coating.

nice job with the paint correction and coating...
What I hate about my BRZ '17 is the crazy amount of orange peel

Orange peel??? Do you have photos? I've seen a number of Twins but never noticed orange peel however seen bad dealer paint jobs post delivery that don't match the factory finish.

My black my17 is totally covered with orange peel and no single brz/gt86 is free of it
Yes you are right about bad paint jobs, my left side wad repainted after 1 week cause someone crashed on me while parking but also the "stock" paint on all the other body parts have a visible orange peel

I think i have photos of it, I ll post them later for you

EDIT: well actually i don t really have photos anymore, i found these 2 of when I had my car crashed on the left posterior side

You can see the amount of orange peel, my car is like that everywhere

I wouldn't call that orange peel. Every car on the road has that painted surface texture. It is completely normal and natural phenomenon of paint curing process.

You might not, but an entire industry does. And some orange peel can be worse than others.

Coming from someone who has a lot of experience with autobody/paint correction/detail work.

Orange peel is exactly what he posted, and generally you wet sand and polish it out if you want to get rid of it.

It's been 4 days, OP is dead. RCE springs killed the rode comfort and him.

But really I need to know, I'm considering the same upgrade
