'17 Parts Compatibility With Older Models

I know this is a bit of a stretch asking this question because not a lot of people have 2017 models, but for those of us who do, please share some knowledge!!

I'm interested in swapping out the aluminum spoiler in the near future, but I'm not too sure if the spoilers out there will fit? General consensus from guys on the forum is, trunk is made more durable, mounting has been reinforned.

Whatever that means, I'm just curious if I purchase a wing, would it be a simply in and out no extra steps necessary?

This question isn't limited to just the spoiler obviously. If you do have info regarding parts from 2016 and older that are confirmed to fit, please drop some info! The mod bug is kicking in but I don't want to buy some parts that don't fit!

Our old Grand Am wing has square peg attachment points from the pix that I've seen.

You are better off just swapping the trunk with someone I'm sure some of older twin owners would love to have the new stock wing cuz racecar.

Besides, you gonna just duct tape the middle attachment holes of your trunk?

Hmmmm....if you swap a whole trunk with the old spoiler I don't foresee any issues, you'll have to prolly swap the strurts too the other person and take his less reinforced struts? that's what is reinforced iirc we talked about it on the other thread. I am totally not sure. If you're just swapping the spoiler or installing a 16 spoiler it should be ok too it's just a light piece of plastic I think, the issue is I'm not sure the holes will align properly that's something that will prolly need sometime to confirm. A good source would be the opposite if a 16 wants to put a 17 wing and it fits then that will help you.

So far we know the front bumper fits the 16 with minor modification. Although the it seems that if you swap a limited you'll lose your fog lights since those don't fit. Or you can have your fog and not the Strip. So far only that's been confirmed the DIY is on another section here.

Can't think of much else but I'm sure there's a lot of items that require small adjustments.

Alternatively you can order a wingless 86 trunk from Toyota and drill new holes for the old limited wing if you're all out hardcore.

I guess it wouldn't be a problem if I got some sort of duckbill spoiler? Dimensions are the same if im not mistaken? Would hate to rule out exterior cosmetic mods for a while... front lips are all messed up now too correct?

Any info on exhaust mods since it has been slightly modified for this model year?

front bumper http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=110963 ...meaning headlights will work. No change to the rear so tails will work as well.

The 86 still uses the same exhaust as they put on the FRS, so highly no changes.

The front lip is different. Yes

Edit: exhaust might not fit according to Tcoat we need confirmation.

That was my understanding as well but there has been at least one reported issue. I have not been able to find a new part number for the exhaust yet to see if they changed it.

If you sell the spoiler LMK, lol.

I think there will be issues with the trunk swap in terms of paint match between some of the colors. Otherwise it should be a direct swap with all the pieces from both years.

Ah sorry I should have clarified, I mean the design is the same no changes as in you'll get the same look and similar sound. I don't think they are at dealers yet. But yeah might be Changes to fitment thanks for looking into it.

Good catch sir! I'll do some research

Correction just checked at Toyota

Parts number for 2017 and 2016 exhaust is the same

PTR03-18131

2017 Same as 2016
@Tcoat

Not sure where it not fitting is coming from, unless it's the same part and they changed the holes.

I'm guessing it's probably just a problem with the Borla. I have a borla on my 2.5RS and it fits like garbage.

A quick google search pulls that up as TRD exhaust.
Does fitment differ at all compared to standard?
