I really don't think its a brand specific failure considering N/A , Turbo and S/C have all failed for one reason or another...... So to place blame on a individual brand is probably more speculative than factual.

then said he was doing it...lol

I said it would be foolish to try and run the same amount of boost on a stock bottom end FA20 and he said he was doing it already. I said you can't have it both ways... If you're doing it already and it's not safe you're either not very smart or you WANT to see it grenade... Jaden |

What if I told you... boost is irrelevant?
I can drop a 72mm turbo on the car and make 500hp on 7psi. What then? |

the volume of mixture, in conjunction with timing, fuel and richness is where the magic happens.

Wow... This discussion about boost and motors is really long but anyways...
Vit has tuned two of my three cars that I've had, and plan on him tuning my brz too. He knows his stuff, and has tuned many. He has a great reputation. He knows what he's doing. Plain and simply, he's awesome. Nice job on your frs Vit. Make my brz awesome like you've made my civics. Note: take what he says Seriously.. He tunes for a living for a reason. He's not some random troll like us. |

I"d say no you can't...
Quote:
VE won't let you... You can only fit so much air in 4 86x86 combustion chambers.. boosting it allows you to fit more... Yes that turbo will flow enough air to make 500 hp at 7 psi, but there's no way you will ever get enough air into a 2l engine to make 500 hp at 7 psi... Jaden |

You should just stop buddy, because this post clearly shows you have no idea how turbos actually work. Again, PSI != CFM. You've been told this already, yet you're still arguing based on boost level. Just stop... you're embarrassing yourself at this point. |

You said,"You can only fit so much air in 4 86x86 combustion chambers.. boosting it allows you to fit more..." So which is it? only so much or boosting fits more? Even if those COULD shock the piston and by extension the rod. <phrasing> He is using timing AND PSI and boost by gear to minimize stress. sit back and enjoy the show. /the end |

no you obviously don't understand...
Quote:
I never said psi equals cfm. I said the opposite... Here let me spell it out for you. you have three factors here... You have the volume of air that will fit in the chambers... You have the volume of air that the turbo supplies at a given boost level, and you have the boost level. Regardless of which turbo you have, you still can only flow so much air into the chamber. With a bigger turbo, you have more flow at a given boost level, but there is STILL a limit to what the chamber can fit and flow. To get to a certain level of flow, you HAVE to increase the boost level regardless as to what the turbo is CAPABLE of FLOWING... SHOW me ANY instance of a 2.0l engine making 500 hp on 7 lbs of boost. You can't because it doesn't exist... Jaden The only way a turbo capable of flowing 35lbs a minute of air at 7 psi is going to actually be able to flow that air into a 2.0l engine AT 7PSI is if it's a compound boost setup and then your final boost level will be MUCH higher. You need to flow 35 lbs a minute of air into the engine to make 500 hp and I'm sorry, you just can't do that at 7 psi on a 2.0l engine Last edited by Jaden; 05-08-2016 at 09:28 PM. |

im he oned talking to a brick wall...
where is this magical 2.0l making 500 hp at 7 psi... brick wall?, you need to be looking in a fucking mirror. The heads in this car are REALLY good at flowing air, but you AREN'T going to be making 500 hp on this car on less than 15 lbs of boost..sorry... Jaden p.s. so you're making 470 whp on your brz... What level of boost are you running again???? must be 6 right? stop, you're embarrassing yourself...lol Oh I know, you've got too small of a turbo... Last edited by Jaden; 05-08-2016 at 11:06 PM. |
