If 3 was noticably darker than 1 then it suggests a problem with 3. It looked a bit dark to me, but hard to tell from photo.

Its possible that its either not firing spark plug correctly or the 3 injector is leaky/defective and its running rich on that cylinder as a result

you done coil and plug, so swapping 1/3 injectors and see if misfire starts on 1.

Its then possible its leaky damaged direct injector, but thats a crap load of work and expense and you would not want to do that without proper diagnosis. They are matched set and all seals and fuel rails should be replaced if removed.

alter that its looking difficult like weird wiring fault

looks like shop time

For what is worth. I've had problems with P0351 (coilpack cylinder 1) for the last 2 years. My car is NA and on gas really not an apples to apples problem, but when the code would show up it would iddle like crap. Last time I changed the coil, I decided to look at the plugs, my plug on cylinder 1 looked like yours, while the rest were not as black. After the last time I changed it, I had a problem with the vtt sensor (P0016). It was only the sensor, and swapping to a new one fixed the issue. But another coilpack has gone by since that. It looks to me like something isnt right somewhere else and the consequence (not the cause) is the coilpack failing, or the vt sensor failing as well, both could result from extra heat on cylinder 1. I do not know the source of my problems, I cant really diagnose it since changing the coilpack seems to magically fix everything, so I think Im stuck with it.

I saw somewhere that there is a very recent service bulletin for 2013-2014 cars to change out their wirning harness and coilpacks to the newer version (2015-2016) because there is an issue where they get loose and cut connection. I think your next logical step is to disconnect the coilpack and mesure the voltage, current and resistance of everything in between the ECU and the coilpack itself, including connectors and wires. It could be as simple as a burnt wire not transmitting an stable signal. I didnt see any post about you testing connections (altho I skimmed over your thread rather quickly), so maybe try that next since its easy.

Good luck on your search.

Swapped cylinder 1 & 3 injectors. Same issue on cylinder 3.

So that leaves weird wiring issue, mechanical issue for cylinder 3 (valve or something) , or di system.

Taking it a shop this morning. Thanks for all your help guys. I'll make sure to respond with the solution.

Glad you got in the shop today. I'm sure they will pull it and open it up today, fingers crossed on the best of the worst case.

While I'm waiting for the engine to be pulled. Anyone want to daydream and come up with some ideas for some awesome parts to put in?
