Anyone plastidip their exhaust black? - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

I've read around and it seems to hold although i'm hesitant to do it since if it gets hit with debris it'll royally suck. i'll toss in the rear diffuser though so that'll hopefully help protect the underside.

i was going to get a black perrin catback but it seems perrin has discontinued that finish :/

It would burn off.

You would need to paint it with a high temp grill paint.

Yes. Plasti dip your exhaust tips. That burning smell is just the +10 whp it's getting you.

lol....everyone is going crazy with the Plastidip. Never even heard of it until I joined here.

Yes, it'll be fine - check out the video at 4:20, but don't expect to ever take it off. Also, I would only do the tips, not the whole exhaust in case something does go wrong.

ah, i was planning on it being removable. but if that's not the case then i'll just skip out on it and use an actual high temp spray in the future.

Ditto to the comment about the tips. I think that'll be okay. Btw, that guy in the Youtube shot has some great videos. I've been watching him awhile.

The only reason I say don't plan on taking it off is because I figure at some certain point it might bond to the metal, don't quote me on that. If you do decide to go this route and one day want to remove it, it should still dissolve using Goo-Gone or dipyourcar's "Dip Dissolver":

+1...that stuff works good. I used it on the exhaust on one of my bikes a couple of years ago, and it still looks great.

my only reservation with using something permanent like the VHT spray is that i'll mess up and i'tll be difficult to correct.

right now, i'm gonna just go with the brushed silver perrin and then after i get black wheels i'll do plastidip, see how that holds up and if it doesn't work out i'll just redo it with the VHT.
