Sorry guys! We have been swamped with pro racing and the release of about 15 brake kits for other vehicles. I'll get back on my engineers next week and post something then about what is or isn't possible. Thanks for your patience!

Not a problem for me... not like I have the money for it yet anyways...

What little impact my want would have on your decision on what kit to build...

The lighter the better, so long as they still fit under a 17x9+35 RPF1. I would rather not have to replace a couple sets of autocross wheels.

Update...

I pressed our engineers to dig further into this potential application. It turns out that AP changed the pad shape on their front variants of this caliper. That's something of which we weren't previously aware. As such, it will unfortunately not properly mate with the current discs in our range. If we want to do an ultralight kit for the 86, we would have to do a special run of calipers that are different from what is currently available. We will investigate the possibility, but it will take a considerable amount of time. Creating new caliper specs is not something that happens quickly with AP. My hunch is that if we can make it work, it will be a 2018 product by the time we're through the woods.

My advice would be that if you want/need a brake kit for the 2017 season, stick with our current offerings, the Sprint or Endurance Kits.

I know that's not what some of you would like to hear, but I prefer to be as realistic as possible. Thanks for your continued support, and I will update if anything changes.

I'd be curious on an ultralight BBK if/when it becomes feasible for design.

I was going to be the person who was going to say Option A, purely for the Solo/AutoX crows and shear weight loss. Just IMO.

Thanks for the support!

Damn, so it needs a completely different disc design? Hopefully still affordable.

We aren't going to create new discs. That will take just as long or longer, and cost more because we need to buy huge quantities to keep the price reasonable. If we do something, it would be to create a different caliper spec. Again though, that unfortunately doesn't happen overnight. Fortunately, our current kits kick all types of arse, and are the best available at any price.

Guys...Hang tight. We may actually have found a potential solution that won't require a new spec of caliper. \

Regardless of what happens though, any solution is going to take several months at minimum to bring to market. If you need a kit any time soon, the current Sprint and Endurance kits are your solution. Thanks.

When you're ready for someone to beta-test your new design, my 60 second autocross runs will be sure to put that BBK through its paces... lol.

This sounds interesting, may even consider trying this new kit and replace my RR-Racing kit.

Hi Guys,

I never followed up on this one and had a couple of forum members ask me about it recently. At this time we don't have the correct caliper/disc combo to create a proper competition brake kit for the 86. That may change in the future, but I can't put any type of timeline on it at this point. I will say that it definitely won't be this year though. I'm sorry that's the case for those are who are interested. Fortunately, we already have two kick-arse options for those who need brakes! Thanks.

@JRitt did this ever go anywhere? Have considered the Endurance kit but really like the idea of the new radi-cal design and benefits.

Have been looking at a CP9440 front kit which seems to have appropriately sized pistons for our cars but they're limited to a rotor size of 330x28mm. Not sure that will offer sufficient thermal mass with sticky R comp tyres on a boosted car and long track sessions?
