An oft is a device to flash a rom just like an ecutek cable or a tatrix adapter.

The reason most tuners dont use oft or tactrix\ecuflash is they dont provide the ability to lock the tune and your ecu.

Quite a few tuners use tactrix\brzedit as it does provide locking of ecu\tune and some have coded flex fuel option.

moto-mike

i worked with some ecutek tuners and i do not like share my experience here.

finally i worked with moto-mike and the result was awesome.
more than 1.51 seconds 0-100km records from stock with moto-mike stage 2 tune.
3 of my friends use mike maps for their NA tune and the result is great.
in my view:
mike is great
mike is awesome
mike is professional tuner

I should thanks him and i 100% recommend him.

Same answer as above

That is because they are loosing money to OFT products.

I used the off the shelf OFT tune for a Stock BRZ and it works beautifully.
Just pick components that OFT has a tune for, install them, flahs the corresponding OFT tune, then post some logs for people to look at.
That way you get free online support.

I am not going to knock any of the tuners here because from what I have read, most do a fantastic job. However, I find this to be a common misconception. Faster car=Better tune. Is the tune safe? What are your AFR's? Are you getting knock? There have been a few companies that have blown boosted motors and left customers high and dry.

You can do that with an ECUTEK cable and dongle... I flashed an OFT tune on my car and it was the biggest pile of shit ever.

As of now, my own street tune is working flawlessly and the only thing it has from OFT is the O2 sensor scale.

I can easily post my ECUTEK logs online and get the same free support.

Empirically, what made it the "biggest pile of shit ever."

Lets just say that it lost power after it learned the parameters, and the fact that it pushes the car to over 30 degrees of timing which is rediculous, and a recepie for knocking. MAF scale was whack causing horrible FTLT.

The stock tune ran way better than OFT.

I see. So where did you get an ECUTEK tune for free?
And I guess "no tourque dip, noticeable increase in HP, and alleviating the stock transient timing bug" is "biggest pile of shit ever" - Noted.

I will redfine what "pile of shit" means in my dictionary.

What mods were done to your car?? Did you data log the stock tune? When I first picked up my OFT, my IAM was 0.7 and I was getting a lot of tip in knock (factory tune). Running the 93 tune from Shiv, the only time I get knock is if I am in stop and go traffic, and then smash the gas in a higher gear. IAM is 1.
Here is a log I took about an hour ago. Started in 3rd gear at 2700RPM shifted into 4th at 7200RPM.
**Ambient temp is about 72F, RH is 46% and 29.98"Hg**

Ahhh, I see we don't understand Empirical or Quantifiable.

Thanks for playing.

You clearly don't know how ECUTEK works, all you need is a licence and you can flash any rom file. I downloaded the OFT tunes from OFT website, flashed it according to my mods and knocking and loss of power was all I got.

I have full exhaust done to the car, and manifold spacers, I have over 200 logs on my laptop, to get my car running as best as it can with a street tune.

I just used your OFT files and flashed them with my ECUTEK cable and dongle... not that hard.

When I first tried it was when a friend of mine loaded it with BRZedit and a tactrix.
