Made my first autox

Snip. Without meaning to, and without thinking clearly about how it may affect others, I had horrible etiquette in my initial post, and broke an either written or unwritten rule that very well could have hurt someone's feelings, which was COMPLETELY unintentional.

Except for stupid insomnia, not sleeping for two days, and the simple fact that I may well simply be a bad driver, making it harder to "get" how to do a good job with Autox, I had an amazing time, with amazing people who went above and beyond necessary to help me. (every single last person I talked to), and can't wait to go back!

I wish I could delete this thread and frame it differently, but I don't think I have that ability.

To someone I possibly hurt, I am SO SORRY, it was not meant to be taken badly although I obviously now see how it easily could have, and that does NOT deserve it. You taught me a huge amount in a short time, and I am forever thankful and in your debt.

Glad you were ok, and i hope it was not a deal breaker for you at autocross, this kind of things don't happen often. I hope you come out again, or to your local clubs. try novice school, they are a blast and you get to learn a lot!

I've never seen a noob wreck...no offense, but noobs are going slow enough that they have even more time to stop the car before it gets to a bad place. The rulebook has required minimums for how far the edge of the course must be from potential hazards and those minimums actually have some scientific/mathematical basis to them.

Glad you're taking your first step.
Unfortunately, I'm as noob as it gets. I did end up doing a nifty spin on my own and laid down a lot of smoke mid run. Lol.

Better than my first run, I missed 5 gates and hit maybe 243 cones. I was a mess.

I intend to one day master this, and with help from the SCCA people and people who help just from their own kindness, maybe one day I'll learn to actually use the brake and not try to just brute force my car to do what I want. Oh, and figure out the cone thing too I suppose.

I don't know what's going on in this thread but: I'm glad you made it and had fun. Don't worry about hurt feelings, it's the internet and most if us are adults so it shouldn't be a big deal.

Seems I missed the original post. You can PM me if you want. It's one of the crazier things I've seen TBH.
