lol yeah so far it looks like breaking even is the best case scenario but at least they are going to live on instead of becoming scrap.

Probably the only way to make money is to build them as track cars and get people like @Racecomp Engineering to sell us parts at a discount for them.

Well if you try to sell them on here then over half of the people will tell potential buyers "They cost too much. Do it yourself". Just like they tell almost every single person that asks if a car is a good deal.

It is tough sledding to sell a car with a rebuilt title when I am starting to see twins with clean titles showing up on Facebook Marketplace for 10-12K and mileages as low as 60K.

It's still great to see you guys putting cars back on the road or track though.

For 12k we can build one of these into a very capable track car. We can build a track car for almost any budget.

Project 5: - Update 2

This one was a super easy fix, no airbag deployment and minor front end damage, new radiator and condenser installed. Just need to get the body parts to the paint shop now...

Once this one is done, the full track build begins on the 2014 DGM BRZ we've got for a friend, #RacecompEngineering, #JacksonRacing, #JDL, #EssexAPRacingSprint, #ApexWheels and more!

Better to bring something back from the dead for the track versus ripping out everything to convert.

Question: Are you using a laser alignment pull rack for measuring everything. On a track car you want to know for a fact everything is true.

We don't attempt any repair on a frame damaged cars. We have access to a frame machine to be sure there is no hidden unibody (frame) structural damage. We then use a detent measuring tools and repair the core supports, radiator supports, etc to the OEM measurements. Then the cars are aligned on a Hunter alignment machine.

This thread has me worried that if I ever bump into someone in a parking lot the whole car will be toast. I can't believe a no airbag deployment no frame damage front collision totaled the car. Wow.

it's a 2013, which means that un-damaged, it's worth roughly $10-15k, total loss is somewhere around 65%-75% total value in different states, which means damage over $7k is a crapshoot. hood, fenders, radiator, lights, and labor for all that can very easily add up to $7k.

labor is the main killer in the quotes.

we'll start seeing more and more cars like this just because of the lower overall value. great for those that can rebuild, bad for those that want to use and toss.

I'm running a Mishimoto Thermostatic on mine, Dave-Ror has one (not sure which one) that he hasn't installed yet. On the DGM car we'll be doing next the buyer selected a Jackson Racing radiator with a built in oil cooler.

But we'll install whatever the buyer wants.
