j2 quad exhaust questions

i recently installed a j2 quad exhaust and I'm experiencing backfire at high rpms. anybody else experiencing this. I do have a catless front pipe attached but i checked my logs and my a/f ratio is anywhere between 12.2-12.5 open throttle which i don't think is bad. another thing is my exhaust is super loud, nothing like what i hear in videos. its super loud no matter what rpm i am in, just wanted to know what setups people are running with the quad and is it super loud even when cruising? thank you for the help

The J2 Quad is 2.75 piping, its gonna be LOUD. Especially with a test pipe. Im dealing with this right now with my setup. It's a love/hate ordeal. I may try running a resonated front pipe to see if that tames it a little. Looks at the CNT Racing front pipe, it looks like a good deal.

catless front pipe will cause it to be loud. Do you have a resonator? or is it a straight pipe?

Backfire is likely from low afr + no cat. I'm assuming you only get it when you're pushing the car, and it's not backfiring at idle or something ridiculous like that right? Unused hot fuel + fresh air = backfire. No way around that unless you put in a cat.

thanx for the help guys. I knew the front pipe would make it loud, but it was crazy loud, I felt something was wrong. It was backfiring at high rpms now at idle. I just went underneath the car and did the soapy water leak test to find that my front pipe underneath the car was leaking. I used the old bolts from the pipe and i found that one of them did crack and caused that pipe to not be sealed properly to the midpipe. exhaust sounds much much better now, still loud but if could hear what it sounded like before was crazy. thanx for the help guys

You get used to it. It'll quiet down after a while. But I love it.
