This is the kind of car I wouldn't care if took in rock chips, dents, dings, etc.

BTW, I did take a look at the CT200H but ultimately decided to settle on a Prius and I couldn't be any happier. Not having a twin doesn't mean the world is going to end, priorities change and you learn to adjust to it.

Totally agree with you. I have to drive a prius for the county I work when I leave campus. Its a great car and serves its purpost well. BUT I can't get over having to apologize anytime I have to accelerate or climb any degree of incline :p

I hope I am never in the situation to have to hand over my keys in return for a Prius or similar car... It hurts just thinking about it.

Accelerating to get in lane is no issue (courtesy issue) but going up is a bitch. What can you do? LOL

LOL I sure as hell didn't want to trade in my FRS but I didn't want to put a ton of miles, rock chips, dents, dings, etc on it. I will own one again..one day!

I've had one as a loaner. Bored. Bored bored bored. And it was pretty tight inside (but I'm 6ft, 280, and wear a 50R suit). It handled okay, but meh. If I absolutely HAD to have a hybrid, I'd sooner get a CR-Z. You can at least get that in stick and it's interesting looking.

I thought the '13 one I had for a week (dealership loaner) was painfully slow, and not very "nice" on the inside, but all that is going to be very subjective.

Got myself a Hyundai Sonata Hybrid 2013, Limited with Tech package and its done a pretty good job over the first year. It was less $ than a Camry Hybrid, 4 door with lots of room, and great features for the price.

Best part is I can turn off 'blue drive' (aka. ECO) and helps make the car fun to drive when I don't care to save gas for a little while. The type of battery/system in this car is actually better for highway/constant driving as opposed to the Toyota-type batteries, which I do most of my driving on too. I noticed Hyundai's aren't as popular in the USA, but they've become pretty popular up in Canada, so it feels strange driving through the USA with it!

If you're still considering a hybrid (or even electric), remember these basic 'annoyances' though. I knew about these before purchase, but didn't realize the drawbacks until I felt them:

* If the battery is in the trunk it not seem like a big deal at first, but trust me it is! I have a hard time transporting anything long (like boxed furniture) now, and have to get a bike rack (whereas before I could still fit one bike in the car). Plus my back seats don't drop.

* Due to the danger around the hybrid/electric system, you might not get many mechanics who can/know work on these cars.

* Winter MPG will suck. Not as much as a full gas powered car, but the battery needs to be at a certain temp internally to be most efficient, plus having the heater on.

I didn't take a look at the Lexus, but I'll admit it looks impressive.

PS. The Tesla 3 wont be out for at of 3 years; I'd even say about 5 years. Production of their factory will be done earliest late-2017. I'm waiting for one too

Everytime I see the back of this thing, can't help but think how outdated it looks. Probably would have been a great design in the late 90's, early 2000's.

I dunno I always thought it looked pretty stylish. Of course it's not a real sports car, but it's a nice commuter car.
