Magnetic Drain Plugs come stock for Transmission/Differential?

Do our cars come stock with magnetic drain plugs for fill/drain for the trans & diff? If not I was going to purchase some (total of 4).

Yes. There are magnets on the drain plugs of both the trans/diff. It's a fairly regular occurrence for people to freak out when they do their first oil change and discover the glob of metal shavings stuck to it, and post in a panic asking if their car is about to explode.

Lol I’ve seen photos. This is my second 86 but this time around doing all the maintenance myself so just wanted to be thorough.
Thank you though!

This was the diff and trans drain plugs at 30k (just removed and then after they were cleaned) . The diff plug has a longer magnet that sticks out, while the trans plug magnet is recessed a bit. I wish I could removed the goop and kept it in a vial because it was really fun to play with.

Good pictures.

Looks like the magnetic part of the plugs were doing their job.

So that is how they make that stuff... One transmission or Diff oil change at a time.

No wonder it is so expensive.... /s
