Correction. It's getting something vaguely EJ shaped, but it's only rumor of anything beyond that.

The only thing unknown is what Subaru/Yamaha are going to do with the head design. Besides putting Direct Injection with Port Injection that is. |

In the end, Yamaha have design to put bit more juice in FB (plus STI team gave some rec/info on previous engine datas) and Subaru tested that FB engine along w Toyota. They have finished and currently finalizing the small detail stuff.

Part two is massively speculative on your part. There is still room for an entirely different block as Moto alluded to, and Toyota has done in the past with the 4A, as well as what Subaru has done with the EJ (closed, semi-closed, and open decks all in the same 'EJ-series' as well as totally different bores and strokes.) While this motor may in fact be an 'FB', given Toyota, FHI, and Yamaha's histories with performance motors, we don't know a damn thing about this motor except it will be roughly 2000cc and have 4 cylinders, and is not the same FB20 that is coming in the Impreza.
