When I shift from 3-4, or 4-3, sometimes it "rattles like a rattlesnake". This is called grinding - the high pitched buzz that you get is the gear teeth skipping off one another. It's caused by mistiming your clutch release and having the clutch engage the flywheel before you are actually in gear with the shifter. As a result you usually have to move back to neutral, pull the clutch, press it again, and then shift slower. Is that accurate? IF so.... Push the clutch, shift, then release. Problem solved, and that's what everyone's telling you! If not, then you have a reason to chat up the scion rep. |

I have another idea of what's going on, your shift is not all the way up to 3rd gear.
