The centrifugal works better for higher rpms, and is much more efficient. This means less draw on the engine, and less heat. The compressor has a claimed efficiency of 78% which is much better than a roots style.

Does this apply to a twin screw as well?
My thoughts are that the engine was more in need of mid range boost than top end.

Yes, there isn't a twin-screw I know of that operates over 70% efficient.

Building mid range sounds nice, but you will be limiting the top end power production and producing more power in the rev range where the engine is more prone to detonate. The high compression ratio is going to love boost and revs. But you'll definitely need to be conservative in tuning anywhere in the middle. Heat, boost, and high compression ratio don't lend themselves highly for a torque monster.

Mid range bump of 40% can easily be had with a centrifugal charger, but top end gains are going to be a lot bigger. Previous experience with Vortech chargers is that they don't feel laggy. They produce boost quickly in the rev range and increase in power the closer you get to rev limit.

I have a vortech v1 s trim with air to water after cooler on my 93 cobra. The car from factory was rated at 235 horsepower.

The motor is 100 percent stock aside from bigger injectors and in tank fuel pump.

on 93 octane the car made 455 rwhp and 456 rwtq.

I can post my dyno sheet to show where the boost kicks in. with the pulley on there now it makes about 10.5 psi. Custom dyno tune.

I do not feel any leg and car is a monster with 140k miles on it.

I am actually selling the Cobra vortech and all to by my mods for this car.

Vortech really underates there kits on there website I made a lot more power than what is adveratised which I think they do on purpose so you feel more like a satisfied customer when your car makes substanially more power and torque than you thought it was going to.

Let me know if anyone wants to see the dyno sheet and I ll post

Common sales practice. I use the term "under promise and over deliver" on a regular basis and am always surprised at people who haven't heard of this concept, yet have years and years in business or sales.

If i can get 300-350whp at the wheels im happy.

My friends 93 RX7 was putting that down and it was a blast. Cars are pretty similar in weight as well.

okay okay okay.... *trying to contain myself*

I PROMISED folks at Vortech I wouldnt say anything...so I cant!(so dont ask) Disclosure: like with Perrin, I am working with them as a tester, and no they dont need anymore cars just now so dont bug them (they have said they will ask for more cars as they need them).

I for one am glad I wont have to be with the many one man shows that have popped up, and many vendors selling stuff with no USA based garage, R&D or ongoing timely support.

BUT...here are some pointers they have already disclosed SO I can recap safely, you can read between the lines.

What is coming our way is very much worth the wait, and when you see it you will know why I have held out:

1-per their flier, SEMA is a big day for us all hoping to buy their kit, product delivery will be shipping soon after, so yeah, this is a very real offering coming our way by SEMA, not just a flier, not just them posting here. Dont quote me on the pre-orders, but would surprise me if that wasnt the case! saving my coin up for this!

2-Per their flier: they will be basing the kit on their advanced v3 blower, a very efficient design, and actually one they specifically came up with for our motor.
They own a fa20 car and have been testing this like they test all their other offerings, thru a legitimate proven test process, not putting handful of turbos the one man show guys that they weld up and toss out to the public to see how they do and call it R&D.

3-This thing will put out enough cfm to handle STG1/2 and any needs folks have for more psi. Its an amazing company in that they design different blowers to fit the same bracketry so they can virtually cater to any custom need that you can define, once they have bracketry for the car. That said, based on blower specs, the v3 is a perfect fit. Bring it! Im sold!

4-their kit will use Ecutek, and are a vendor themselves, so you will be able to buy the complete kit, end to end from them, and unlike many other vendors here, they dont sell kits without a warranty, so like it or not, you will have a vendor who supports you, and their product.
Big boys like Vortech will be reselling thru big boys like Perrin, and selling direct. It pays to wait for the bigger, more reputable shops to release proven warrantied solutions.

5-They arent teasing you, as the specs and PSI and ratings get nailed down, they will disclose same- the reason they have no specs is they havent nailed it down- as with them its always overbuild, underpublish=overwhelming satisfaction! This thing WILL dominate ...their kit retains all factory accessories, both performance and function, A/C etc.

As I get their prototype onto my car I will post pics as I am allowed...stay tuned.

Sounds excellent i am between this and the AVO turbo kit, ease of installation will be a big point for me because there are no good shops in my area and i will have to have one of my tech's here at the dealership do it. This kit may win based on that alone.
