Replacement hood - RKsport

I went down to RKsport today to let them test the fitment of their replacement hood for the FR-S/BRZ.

Really great group of guys, and I honestly liked what they had to offer. I know not everyone will be a fan of this look, but the scoop is functional and will definitely help with directing air flow to either the intake or a turbo filter like the one Don from AP is putting together.

Here are some pics of the prototype:

It should be ready to go in the next few weeks. I'll upload shots of the finished hood when I get them.

They're also thinking of doing Carbon Fiber vent replacements for the BRZ and FR-S. I'm really looking forward to seeing what they come up with for that, too.

Edit: Some pictures taken by one of the guys at RKsport:

They're building a couple of 'channels' in the underside of the hood that will direct air flow from the scoop to the intake location.

This might work well with Accelerated Performance's turbo & intake position.

That's what I thought. I asked Don about it a bit ago; waiting to see what he says about it.

Celica All Trac comes to mind.

I'm personally in love with the shape of the oem hood. Interested in seeing how this will look when painted.

Looks good. I'm a sucker for functional hood scoops. What's the weight compared to the original hood?

That will depend on the thickness of the fiberglass used. They are still developing the hood. Plan on the fiberglass one being around the same weight.

If they make a carbon fiber offering, it should be a bit lighter.

I don't think this is going to be my favorite vented/scooped hood design after more appear, but right now i'd say it looks pretty good. Although, i do find myself wondering how the scoop would look if it were sharper rather than rounded inside.
