Is your FR-S giving you any mechanical problems now?

How's the built of the FRS? I don't wanna spend money and get a car that will give me tons of problems within the warranty period. Is your FR-S giving you any problems so far (besides your wife yelling at ya for buring cash on a toy.)

Is there any pre-paid maintenance package that you can buy when you place your FRS order? For example, oil/filter change and check up in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5 year of ownership. I'm guessing that you can go to a 3rd-party shop and get it done cheaper since it's just scion?

Only issue I've had to date is trouble shifting when it's towards or below freezing and the car hasn't warmed up yet. But I'm working on fixing that with a fluid change. Other than that I've not had any issues at all.

Edit: I'm at about 2200 kms by the way. (1375 miles)

Mechanical? Nope. Runs and drives great. Annoying small rattles that I'm too lazy to pop a panel off and fix? Yes.

I'm coming up on 5,000 miles with a few 400+ mile trips. So far the only issue i have had is tail light condensation and the dealer is on that one.

That's not mechanical trouble- every manual transmission is hard to shift or clunky before it's warmed up. If you're used to an automatic you may not know this though.

When I got the survey from Scion, I had nothing to report as a mechanical or fit problem- design flaws are another matter, but even in that department I don't have many issues. I'm at just under 2,500 miles.

If you want an ultra smooth manual, buy a Honda. TrueDelta, which does statistical research based on a large user-submitted independent data pool reports that the FR-S has fewer problems than average for a new vehicle.

Crickets, passenger side tail light condensation, and I had a slight idle issue that seems to have faded over time. That's about all I've had with mine.

Had to get my ECU re-flashed early on, but no issues since then. Just over 3000 miles.

This may help, very few are reporting catastrophic failures and a couple of lemons but we're talking dozens out of nearly 15,000 (in N. America alone).

Every dealer is going to try and sell you a service plan, the best pitch I've heard so far is a guy mentioning that it's a Subaru so the motor will have to be dropped to change plugs (idk if this is true, haven't researched it), but point being you may be better off visiting a Subaru shop than a Scion/Toyota shop.

6000 KM, no problems so far. Harsh 2nd gear but it's really cold here. Will fix with new fluid.

400 miles, only issue so far is condensation in both taillights. Other than that, it's been amazing.

Appx 5500 miles and not a problem. Initially I had the clang, clunk in the rear trunk area but while waiting for Toyota to come out with a service bulletin it has corrected itself and gone away.

I think the build date has something to do with problems. Mine was built in August and it's been bullet proof. It seems the majority of problems showed up in cars with earlier builds. Any one thinking of buying a used one should keep the build date in mind.
