Racer X Fabrication oil pan design and development!
We know where we are headed this winter so we are getting some of the needed components completed up front. Here is our oil pan design, and 1 of our prototypes. The design features currently incorporate:
O-ring groove (no more messy sealant!!) 1 qt extra capacity at OEM height Oil return bung for turbo setups (or can be plugged) 3 degree drain angle at bottom of pan. So far we are pretty happy with the prototype and will be fitting the pan to check for OEM clearances. Here are a few screen shots of the pan, all of our parts are designed and built at Racer X Fabrication. As always if you have any questions, comments or suggestions we are glad to hear them. |

It would be nice to know which aftermarket header designs this WON'T work with. All headers are designed around OEM clearances, but this looks like it squares out more where the OEM tapers.

We will design around the OEM exhaust manifold, if we find interference issues when we fit the pan, the design will be modified for any clearances needed.

This will be the third pan I've seen come out for this engine, which is awesome. I love the amount of choice I get with this car.
One thing I haven't seen with the aftermarket oil pans is a turbo drain that extends to the bottom of the pan. A tube like this with a 45 deg slash cut at the bottom greatly reduces aeration in hydraulic systems, and might be a good idea to include in a system like this. I'll admit, I'm not a potential customer for this product, so I'm not one to judge how much if any extra your target audience would pay for this extra feature, I just thought I'd pass along the idea. |

I've been happy with your suspension parts. PM me when you get this finished as an idea of what you are thinking froma cost perspective. Also, what coating options are you planning on going?

I don't know, but it's a feature of the FBM oil plan.

I was always under the assumption that being that it's mostly gravity that returns the oil it the pan from the turbo you want as straight a shot as possible. If you extended the drain below the oil level will it not cause the oil to back up and cause the turbo seals to leak ? Sent from, The Frozen North
