What to do about these?

Within the last month some idiot decided to drag a large trash can across the roof of my car and left some scratches. They aren't a big deal, but they really tick me off and I would like to remove them.
I do know what I can do, but I am wondering what you good people think is the cheapest and most efficient way to remove these scratches? Any and all ideas are appreciated!
(sorry if pictures are really large)

If you are not toooo anal about perfect the touch up pens would at least tone it all down a bit. With a bit of work can be almost invisible actually. Some of those are pretty nasty though.
May I enquire just why somebody would drag a can across there??????

Are the white scratches in the pictures actually scratches....or is that plastic residue from the can (think tire tracks from a burn out)? If its residue, it can be removed with things like goof-off or even wd-40. I've had success using things like WD to get most of the plastic out of scratches...then using a rubbing compound followed by a polishing compound to get rid of the scratches themselves. Hope it all turns out well, whatever the solution

It's not residue but they do look like just scratches in the clear coat. If not too deep the standard troll phrase might actually hold true.

"It'll buff out."

I know my way around a buffer and I can say 90%+ will come out. I know this will sound sacreligous but if youre really good you can use 2000grit sandpaper with water and wet sand the scratches then buff it too a shine.

A necessary step, I would say. Not for the faint of heart. Might even consider another layer of clear coat from a rattle can. It's not like the OEM finish is all that great.

Can you post some pics of the damage that are not so zoomed in? Back the camera up a bit so we can get an idea of the scope of damage, it'll help with prognosis.
