Hopefully that interior is pre-production and will get better. It does have the look of a 13K econo car.

Edit: I mean the console and dash. I actually really like the seats.

Also keep in mind that concepts usually show the top range. No, what you see is what we're going to get... no "options", only dealer installed accessories.

If you think this has an econo car look, take a look at this one.

This is what they get in Japan for the "standard" trim level which is rumoured to sell for $32K (although I know a direct conversion does not mean much).

ERROR 404

Also Toyota isn't going to do a direct translation to SCION

Scion will not offer upgraded HVAC controls for the FR-S. They keep it plain and simple and make their interior to be easily upgradeable. That's why their stereo's never look all nice and flushed in. It's all about customization AFTER you purchase your car. It's just not in Scions motto to add such a "big" option like dual HVAC controls.

This pretty much sums it up.
The current dash/console looks like CRAP - you can tell me all about not "getting" the car, it's about pure driving, or price...blah...blah...blah...none of those arguments change the fact that the dash/console area is a joke in its current form.

No, maybe this was all planned by Scion marketing to build up excitement all the way up to the release of the car, but unfortunately, I think 2fast4you is spot on.

I know I am very guilty of rehashing this subject to death, so for those irritated or offended, I'm sorry..... I want this car like many others here, but I refuse to put down my hard earned money for an interior that looks like that.

Scion send us some good news please.........

Im pretty sure we get the ugly HVAC dials rather than the cool James Bond JDM dash with fiddly buttons because they figure North Americans will be driving this car in a blizzard for 1/2 of the year while wearing our fat seal fur lined gloves around our fat north american fingers hohoho!
...but in protest ALL of Europe get crazy snow too!

P.S. that bottom door sil is not silver overspray!!! Its light being reflected on the plastic trim people!

The super stripped one is the race model. It has the non-red stitch interior as well. There are more pictures in the 86 book that I just got from japan that confirms this. I'm just waiting to scan in all the pics, but I've been busy.

I may have misunderstood the information and will wait for the more accurate information you have.... Does the interior of their standard model look a bit better than the race model one?

I know they have

- customization grade (race model)
- standard grade
- luxury grade (I think this is the equivalent to the Scion model)
- Possibly, super luxury grade
