Looking For a New Daily Tire

So, after clocking over 30k street miles, my Continental ExtremeContact Sports are finally dead. On the hunt now for a new set of daily drivers. I live in Nashville, TN which can get pretty cold in winter, but we don't usually see much snow. And on the rare days it does snow, I just work from home. lol That being said, what are you guys liking for street tires these days? I guess the Pilot Sport 4S is the new king, but they're real pricey. Guess I'm really looking for the best bang for the buck street tire. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

What did you think of the Conti's?

Honestly I'd just run those again unless you didn't like them. I've run them multiple times on multiple cars and haven't found anything better in the price range and in the same category (yes, there's plenty of better that are 200TW).

I've also run Sumitomo "summers" (don't recall exact name) and for the price they were great.

Yeah, was about to ask the same thing.

Those Continentals are so good that I'm about to order a new set. They can be a little tricky if the road surface is cold, but otherwise aren't bad at all.

Ideally, I'd like to find something with a symmetrical tread pattern. I have to run pretty aggressive camber most of the year for AutoX, so that leads to more inside camber wear. With a symmetrical tire, I can flip them on the rim when they start to wear unevenly. It may not be possible with street tires, but that's what I'm aiming for. The General G-MAX RS looks kind of interesting.

Falken Azenis FK510 has been great for me, can get them pretty cheap too. I'm -3 in the rear but at $130 a tire I'll just get new ones when they wear out

Not exactly performance tires, but I've been very happy with my Yokohama YK580s. I just put the YK740 gtx on my wife's car. I get the same entertainment from tire reviews as I get from reading Amazon reviews. "These Pirelli suck. They won't corner or brake worth **** on my 1986 Chevy Suburban. -John Doe in Wisconsin"

I like my bfg gforce comp2 a/s (directional tread). I run these when temperatures drop below summer tires weather. Not particularly great in snow, a bit loud on the highway, but quite responsive and predictable.

Also, define cold.

How much camber to you have? I am at over -3F and they wore pretty even until the very end. The last few hundred miles the insides went quickly but the whole tire was pretty much done at that point.

I decided to go with the Hankook Evo this round. I did really like the Conti's though.

Agree. I'm at -3.5 and my Conti's have worn great (roughly 15k miles on them).

Typically if you're seeing inside tire wear, it's due to toe, not negative camber.

I've got my crash bolts maxed out running -2.7 Front & -2.2 Rear. Sort of a compromise setup for AutoX and daily driving. I think the alignment was out of whack for a while which probably exacerbated the inside wear. The rest of the tire was down to the wear bars though.

I've been reading really good things about those. Looks like they offer very good performance for the money.

I like my General GMax AS05's a lot. They're wearing very well, have been extremely predictable, are quiet enough on the highway, they're absolutely fantastic in the rain and they handle and ride nicely. I like them a lot more than the Conti EC's that I had before.

I like General tires a lot. I have a set of the cheapest on my car for daily and they are awesome as long as you don't want ultimate traction. And by that I mean shifting from first to second at redline my stock car spins the tires for about 2 or 3 seconds. I enjoy sliding around a bit more than most seem to though.

Surprised nobody has mentioned the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo 2. One of the best daily tires I've felt.
