Brake pressure, , 4 wheel speeds, lng rate, lng value ,lat G, traction switch and VSC switch all are hard inputs to the ABS ecu so unless the EFI ecu's throttle postion, load etc trigger it or the power streering position rate I'm not sure if a CAN solution will work. It may require a hack to the ABS ecu to turn this feature off for an off road only app. Need to be able to repeat it to find and fix it.

These are new cars with a few new things to work out, The BMWobbly have been around with blown head gaskets and cam followers that got worked out. This is still a great platform to drive and race, give us a little while to debug some of the minor things, hard to complain about 35mpg 200hp. Stay positive!!!!!

so I bought the FRS to primarily learn how to drift... just FYI to my posts. But the pedal dance, like I mentioned before... caused grinding and dead pedal when I was rolling backwards after a spinout.

I went to all star bash and got a ride along with the Parts Shop MAX car with Dan the owner. He had no problems with anything I've experienced but I noticed his ABS light was on. He told me that he pulled / ziptied the ABS sensors from the front wheels and he doesn't run into any problems. I'm told it's really easy and you could do it even without jacking the car up and I'm going to try to do it for my next skidpad day... but I do wonder if there was an ability to make a switch for the ABS sensors to be deactivated or at least make a quick switch for the "full" t/c off mode switch.

I've never had a problem hooning. If you spin out, you need to turn off and PULL THE KEY OUT, before restarting the car. Otherwise, the electronics stay in freaked out mode.

Understeer with pedal dance?

Anyone noticed understeer with pedal dance?

I know in autocross some prefer the pedal dance and some don't. Last weekend we had autocrosses Saturday and Sunday. Pretty much same weather, same site, same car (RTR setup), Except for different courses on the 2 days.

I tried the pedal dance on a few runs and noticed understeer. Wasn't necessarily a bad thing depending on the course. I was faster with some oversteer (without pedal dance) on Saturday's course. On Sunday I was faster with some understeer (with pedal dance).

Anyone experience understeer with pedal dance? Oh and let me add I'm no pro, so it could be just my driving.

Sorry guys what I'm talking about with pedal overlap is not "ice mode." It's simply the DBW throttle closing too slowly therefore delaying engine vacuum and subsequently brake booster assist. Pump the brake pedal while the engine is running, feels spongy with lots of travel, now engine off, pump the brake, and now it will be rock hard.

So if you transition from throttle to brake fast enough, you will be greated with that rock hard pedal and no vacuum assist momentarily. The brake booster is a mechanical device so you can't trick it.

"Ice Mode" has something to do with the ABS computer programming in response to the wheel speed data. I believe it's a response to excessive ABS intervention so to further reduce potential lock up its reducing line pressure via the ABS pump.
