In Fast Five when he (and the other people in their crew) had been identified by The Rock, his name shows up as "Han Seoul-Oh," which is a bit Korean-ish (and a pun on Han Solo from Star Wars).

I think Jeremy Lin has enough integrity to be accurate in certain portrayals (as in the Tokyo Drift behind-the-scenes/director's commentary he talks about having met with actual Yakuza members to figure out how to portray them accurately) and probably won't be casting Asian guys to play a completely different Asian nationality (unless it's one where they are truly similar in appearance without being obvious to Asian people, like in the first one where they had a Korean and a Filipino both portraying Chinese people).
I'm confused on whether you are agreeing with me or disagreeing. lol

Part 2 is like a made-for-TV-movie. The Lin films show a more serious attempt at storyline using cars as a background theme. The first two have a '90s production quality feel whereas Lin's use distinctly 2000s film techniques. Tokyo Drift is a hybrid of the zanyness from the first two and seriousness from the last 2. The last 2 are recyclings of existing heist films. In terms of execution from a film critic's standpoint, I would rank it:
1. Tokyo Drift
2. Fast Five
3. Fast and Furious
4. The Fast and the Furious
5. 2 Fast 2 Furious

How I would rank it based on the cars I saw and how they were used in each film:
1. Tokyo Drift
2. The Fast and the Furious
3. Fast Five
4. Fast and Furious
5. 2 Fast 2 Furious

How I woud rank the value each film adds to the franchise:
1. The Fast and the Furious
2. Fast and Furious
3. Fast Five
4. Tokyo Drift
5. 2 Fast 2 Furious
My ranking would be exactly the same as your third category. I wonder if this would make me a good film executive.

I'm going to be sorely disappointed if they don't call this newest installment 6Fast6Furious. I really thought they had something with the second one.

Other than that, we saw an STI in action along with a G35, Mustang and Torino... not exactly "premium" or "high end." The NSX hardly had any noteworthy screen time, but Ludacris's character had an NSX in the second one (with an LV-esque paintjob that matched his pickup truck), though it ended up not being in the movie.
You forgot the Porsche Cayman in part 4. The G35 is a luxury car and those muscle cars aren't cheap/abundant. It's not about what models parts 4/5 had in common with parts 1/2... it's more about what it DIDN'T have - riced out/liveried cars everywhere - and how they were presented. Parts 1/2 were about quantity; 4/5 about quality. The G35 was probably one of the ricier ones but was very downplayed with very limited shots not blatantly showing it (I searched with scrutiny for full real life shots from outside of the movie because I also owned a G; I could hardly tell it was red in the film because heavy post processing dulled its presence). The collection of cars presented in parts 4/5 gave a sense of something you'd find in a collector's auto gallery in which the BRZ would fit better because of its extra creature comforts.

The Cayman was hardly in the movie, and you only saw it going 5 mph or less. That doesn't really count.

There wasn't anything that I'd consider exotic, but they definitely got a lot more diverse in terms of the different types of cars, and even the different examples of those same types of cars. I'd never have expected to see a GNX.

I hope they put non-sensical jargon in this new F&F. Danger to manifold! You never had me! You never had your car! Granny shifting and not double clutching like you're supposed to! I live my life a quarter mile at a time! You disrespect me in front of my family! S2000s with SR20s... WHY?!?! Hahaha.

Brings back memories.

That kind of jargon is only guaranteed with Rob Cohen doing the directing. Just look at that xXx movie.

John Singleton, on the other hand, will manage to slip ebonics into every movie he does. POCKETS AIN'T EMPTY CUH!!!

So much hate in this thread. Is anyone besides me excited for it? I'm glad my car will be I it. I grew up with the movies, regardless of rice in the first two we all liked them for our own reasons. The fact now that I was able to actually purchase the car I have been waiting for and it being out in the movie I have been waiting for is an amazing feeling.

2F2F had the best scene ever. "It's a scrambble baby, a big one!" I wish I had a car scene that big around here. I wouldn't even care about rice at that point. We all had to work with what we have at the time. I did out my 2.5 Altima. Was a sleeper and got called ricey at one point when I had a body kit on it (zomg you must be so young what a ricer) but it flushed nicely and a lot of people liked it. This movie is going to be great and I'm pumped to see my car in it.
