If that's the case then I'm alright with feminine looking cars. :-)

But I test-drove them when I was looking at the FR-S, and it really does feel numb by comparison. The steering had no feedback. The interior felt cavernous. It's a better GT for sure than it is a sports car.

Genesis coupe = Mustang.

FR-S/BRZ/GT86 = MX-5.

The genesis coupe is not a light weight sports car as much as it is a GT car. Out the box they're alright, but if you really want to have fun with it you have to drop the shit stock tires (real shocker there), get the performance alignment listed in the user manual, and get a short shifter. If you get an R-spec you need to replace the brake pad too. It won't be a Porsche in the handling department but it's surprisingly pretty good for what it is. And that's coming from someone who hated to the Genesis coupe from the beginning.

People saying the Genesis coupe needs to lose weight sound like people saying the 86 twins need to get less cheap feeling. That's not what the cars were made for.
Could be a Canadian thing, but they were really pricey. The 2.0T was ~$5000 more than an FRS when I was shopping, didn't even price the V6.

My bad, I forgot y'all get screwed on pricing on a lot of vehicles. At the US price point, it's a good bit of car for the price.

they need to slap their tau 5.0 V8 in the Gen Coupe.

Just to give the Mustang GT a run for its money.

Back in July I was two days away from signing a deal for a fully loaded, shiny blue, 14, 3.8 GT for $33501.00 when I saw a Tc (some release series don't know which) and thought I would check it out.
I walked into the Scion showroom and spotted a bright orange, lowered and tinted machine placed front and center. The heavens opened up, the angels sang and I had to take a test drive! As much as I had enjoyed the test drive of the Genesis which was fast as hell, had every possible creature comfort invented by man and looked really really cool there was no comparison with the feel and the driving characteristics.
The FRS cost me $31K (with a pile of extras on it) so for me the difference would only have been $2502 for the fully loaded V6 GT.
I still get emails from the Hyundai salesman to see if I have changed my mind and some damned good offers if I ever want to trade in!
(So if not for a chance encounter with a Tc I would be annoying the hell out of the guys on the Genesis forum now @Twin4Life)

After driving both the 2T & 3.8 Geny's a twin turbo 6 would be highly appreciated. The Geny just has too many things against it to compete with the Mustang, Twins or the Camaro.
The Mustang's 4 & 8 blow the Genesis' 4 & 6 away like they're nothing. The manual gearbox & automatic in the Mustang also make the Genesis' feel like the Smart car's slingshot transmission.
As for room, it's a step behind the Camaro & slightly more than the twins but the weight & weight distribution are awkward. My Camaro v6 (before the turbos) is faster around the track than a track spec 13 Genesis despite being heavier & less powerful. The car also feels like a lot of the balance from the 2010 Genesis was lost.
The handling feels bulkier, and I drive a car that has 400 pounds more than the 3.8 Genesis. The Genesis Coupe 3.8 is also more expensive to insure than a Camaro SS, Mustang GT or Nissan 370z.

If Hyundai wants to really work on the car to make it competitive they need a more refined manual gearbox & a DCT automatic / ZF automatic to really help with the handling. Dropping the highest weight model to roughly 3000-3200 pounds would also be greatly appreciated, but the weight seems to be going up, not down.

Right now the Kia GT-4 Stinger seems like the better car from the two, but I'll give Hyundia another shot when & if the twin turbo model comes out.

Theres a few threads over on the genny forums. Real world #'s for the current test mule are 365/390tq with this Turbo 3.3. And i dont see a chance in hell the next gen GC is losing ANY weight. Itll get fatter too I bet. Not that I care too much as long as it has the chops to be an even BETTER GT car than it is now and run with the Q60's and 4 series for $15 to $25K less.

LOL!! I concur wholeheartedly.

I can understand a "Track Model 3.8 being beat by..pretty much anything" But a stock V6 Camaro aint one of them. And Im out this racing business. I got a kick-ass Grand Tourer with the goodies for an insane price. You sports cars pilots...carry on. Ill be in the right lane. :-)

I actually really like the Genesis. The only thing that has gotten under my skin from day one is that rear quarter window! WTF! Continue the body line set by the front to the back! I can deal with a little less visibility for the sake of feng shui.
If I bought one, that would be something that I looked at every day and shake my head.

I test drove it 3 times. Looked at it about 10. Not once did I notice that damned window! Had to go look at a picture to see what you meant!
Damn it now the car is ruined for me!

The worst part is that, the little kink isn't actually transparent glass.. So there isn't even function to go over the form.

I drove a friend's once, and even at parking lot speeds, it was apparent the Gencoupe is more of a tourer...
