I think they had a set amount they planned on making which totalled 6000 cars/year thereabouts?

and they could ramp up the production if needed.

Just like how the GR Yaris production in i think Mexico went from something like 10000 units to 25000 units due to demand.

Someone let me know North Miami Toyota has black GR Corolla Core for sale for $58,000 plus taxes and fees. I wish I could afford to throw that kind of money away on ADM.

Back to the topic of the GRC, considering swapping out the RAV4 for one if I can snag one.

They're definitely out and started being delivered mid December.

Interior is so basic. Seats aren’t as sporty as you’d think. Maybe I’m spoiled from all these years of GR86 and BRZ seats. I have Corolla Hatchback XSE and those are way better. I can’t even feel a difference in the bolstering.
In-person the widebody-bits are actually underwhelming and pretty normal looking. Not as crazy as an FK8 Type R. The car looks bubbly.
I disagree. The car has great presence and looks super wide. Considerably wider looking than I was expecting. Guy that bought the one I passed came over to show me the car (and gave me a ride though the car isn't broken it yet so it was fairly sedate). Here are a few photos.

This was a week before Christmas. Since then I've actually sold the GTI, in anticipation of getting a Circuit Edition.

I will say, there are a few things very disappointing to me about the GRC, though none are deal breakers (for me):
1) As already mentioned, the interior quality is lower than even that of the XSE Trim corolla. This makes no sense. Even at MRSP, while sitting in the car, I was thinking to myself "I can't believe this is a $40k car".
2) Despite being dimensionally larger than my GTI (the GRC is longer) the GRC is CONSIDERABLY smaller inside. Rear seat legroom is literally in the realm of being similar to the GR86 (in fact if you look it up you'll see their EPA listed measurements for rear seat legroom are identical). 6-7 inches less than my GTI which is a huge difference. And the trunk/hatch space is ridiculously small. Smaller (below the cover) that what you have in the GR86.
3) The car is dearly lacking in "normal" features commonly found these days in considerably less expensive cars. No center console armrest, no floor mats (seriously?) and no adaptive headlights that move with the steering wheel angle.

I'm more or less all in at this point, and if I don't like the car after a year I could probably just switch over to a Mk7.5 Golf R.

Are the interior dimensions of the GRC actually different than the regular Corolla hatch?

As to the rest of the interior, I guess all of that is in search of weight savings? How does it compare to the original FRS (which was always fine for me)?

Yes the interior dimensions are the same except for the trunk floor which is a little higher.

Interior quality is about on-par with the original FR-S. It kind of slips away from your mind because of the digital dashboard and overall modern look. The cloth in the original FR-S actually didn’t feel as cheap…almost felt like microfiber. The cloth in the GRC feels like rental car Corolla-spec fabric.

I was able to drive it to the gas station to fill it up since the car is already pre-sold. Drove it like a civilian and from what I can tell, there’s no drama below 4000rpm. The steering is light but precise, and the short wheelbase gives it a very “on its toes” nimble feeling. The ride is firmer than I was expecting but not jarring. Not as bad as the ‘22 WRX or not as bouncy as a VA STI.

I would describe as if the VA STI and ND Miata had a baby

Yeah the passenger area is the same. It's just a horrible use of space. If you look up rear passenger legroom for a GR86 and Corolla hatchback they're the same, 29.9 inches.

Trunk floor for the GRC is laughable high, like laugh out loud high. And it looks highly unfinished. The cover/floor (covering the foam insert and battery) is cardboard box thin, and doesn't cover/sit flush on the sides. You can see the foam insert below. Very odd.

I'm glad they put the battery in the trunk but it looks like the sort of modification someone performed in their backyard. Not on a $40k vehicle.

That must be some quirk on how they measure it. I'm 6'1" and have a very upright seating position compared to most people. In my GR86 with correct driver seating position the back of my seat is almost touching the rear seat, literally zero leg room. In Corolla XSE hatch, same setup I had a small gap between knee and seatback pocket. So something is off with those numbers

When I looked at the regular Corolla hatch the floor was way too high even on that. Very tight cargo area. Knowing the GRC was raised over that I figured they couldn't have raised it much. Hard to say, maybe an inch judging by these pictures.
