That will depend on what the panels are made of. If they are made of aluminum that there is no sense in changing. If they are steel, then I will look into it. With what we have been told on the possible weight of the car. I don’t think much will be steel.

On a side note, it's great you're in Tennessee too. We'll have to get a NC/Tennessee thing going down the road.
I dunno much about either Toyota's or Honda's in house aftermarket companies (TRD or Mugen). All I know is that I've heard friends bitch that Mugen parts are $$$$$. How does TRD compare to Mugen in terms of price, value, and performance?

Mugen parts are expensive yes, but they're extremely high quality. The Mugen CF Hardtop for the S is around $6k but it's unmatched in quality and fitment. On top of that, it's real carbon, not the crap that Vis, Siebon and other companies sell. That is the only piece I would buy from Mugen. The rest would either come from Spoon, ASM, Amuse, or J's Racing as it's just my personal preference.

I guess it's the same cliche, that you get what you pay for. That's not to say that these items can't have problems because anything can go wrong with this stuff. Just the nature of the beast.

What I'd really love to see from TRD is/are carbon pieces for this car such as hoods, doors, mirrrors, etc. That would be pretty awesome imo.

Driver Mod would be my first mod. Take it to a couple track events and autocross events. Then build from there. Probably stickier tires. Then coilovers. If RWD, then a bigger FSB.

Hm... I was never a Honda fan, so I have no clue on Mugen stuff. BUT I gotta agree, I hope TRD make some CF body parts for FT86. Hood & Doos would be nice, but something bit more minor CF parts first: Mirrors, Shift Knob, Gauges, Lip, & TRD emblem CF Racing seat might looks nice.

Couldn't agree more. Most cars out of the box are capable of so much more than its owner's abilities and I'm sure the FT-86 will be no different.

I don't know about TRD parts list, mostly aesthetic I'd say, sans the superchargers they have lined up for the trucks and some of their suspension setups.
anyone here replace their car's backwindow with lexan? I was thinking this might be an interesting mod; and save probably 50-80 lbs, maybe more I don't know

I really hope it doesn't. I want a successor to the AE86, which is what got us all excited in the first place: lightweight, revvy, fun no matter what speed. Let the aftermarket cater to the power issue.
