I'm 31, 6'6", 215 lbs. I look like a clown getting out of my car. People keep asking me how I fit in it. When I make left turns, the steering wheel barely grazes my right thigh.

I put a $500 deposit down in November 2012 and took a chance on the car. It has been great for the past almost 3 years now, but I'm looking to move to something bigger, and more practical for daily driving to work and errands on the weekends.

Plus, recovering the money I spent in modding the car is always a plus, but in return, I learned a ton about cars in general and how to work on cars. This is a fantastic project car to work on and learn from. That's the most valuable experience I got from this car along with the driving dynamics of it.

I've never owned a car this low before but at 6'2" 200lbs I don't have any problem getting in, I fall into it like others have mentioned. Getting out is a shot in the dark depending on how much space I have between my car and whatever the door could hit.

just for shits and giggles we should start a "how do you get in and out of your GT86/FR-S/BRZ w/ video proof" thread. probably will be some good laughs. I'm gonna record myself after work to see what it looks like.

And here I thought I was the only one that had to catapult himself out of the car. Oddly enough my grandpa loves it, says he doesn't need to bend at the knees as much to get in .

I have always felt that I mess up getting in and out when I am in a hurry. When I have the time and do it consciously (kind of a ZEN way of doing it ), I do a better job of it. Yet another reminder to me that these cars are special!

By placing your left hand on the door sill you can use that to help stabilize your torso... then if need be use right hand place on steering wheel to help move the legs up and over the door sill.

once you find your own way it'll be a piece of cake. I picked my car up Friday afternoon and yes it was awkward getting out of it the first time but now I only used my left hand on the door sill and get myself out it's like second nature now.

I'm 5 11 and 245 pounds (or maybe more)

Out of habit put my foot down, it landed on the running board, then I did my normal push myself up out of the seat with my left hand. My family says it was quite entertaining.

There was this one time where muscle memory kicked in when I was exiting the old Corolla. Without a second thought, I moved the seat all the way back, opened the door as wide as it can go, stuck my left leg out, and put my left hand on the door sill while swinging the right leg out.

Still not realizing what was going to happen, the right side of my face kissed the gravel. I got up, looked around in embarrassment, brushed my self off, then scurried inside.
I've long ago learned to embrace my lack of grace. I just get up, dust off and, if I have an audience, take a polite bow.

I'm ROFL over here reading all these responses (except for the guy who said people are complaining "like women". He can just STFU.) I'm so glad I'm not alone.

I'm 43, and only 5'1", so getting in really isn't much of an issue. Getting out free of embarrassment is the real challenge. The main issue is my destroyed left knee. That knee has really just quit the job of "catapulting" me...well, anywhere. The second issue is the damn door that won't stay open, and I swear I can hear giggling as it keeps closing on my left leg while I'm trying to maneuver myself out.

All in all it's not THAT hard, until you add all of life's little complications....like getting out while holding my big purse, a soda, my phone, my keys, the mail, etc....because I'm too lazy to go around and get all that shit out from the passenger side after I get out...so I try to do the "getting out dance" WHILE carrying all that stuff. Ugh.

I thought I was gonna have a real problem on my hands the day I took my Dad out on some errands...he's 72, 5 feet tall, 5 feet wide, has been 9 months pregnant for 15 years, and has two bad knees. I really thought he was just going to have to stay in my car and live in my garage, but he managed to get himself out. It wasn't pretty.

Yes.

This was about 20 years ago, so I was in my early 20's, and I think I was driving my 1993 Honda Accord at the time. I was parked in a lot right on the corner of a busy intersection near Arizona State University. I was wearing a skirt and flat shoes that (apparently) had slick bottoms.

As I got out of my car, I planted my left foot, and as I shifted my weight to it, my slippery shoe slid towards the car. My foot slid completely under the car as my body weight was still moving out of the car, and I ended up flat on the pavement, mostly on my face, with my left leg under the car, my right leg still up in the car, and my crotch up against the door sill (yup, skirt).

The very bestest part was all he people sitting at that red light who saw it all unfold, honking and cheering....

It's only a matter of time before my oil pan is the next casualty.
Aghhhhh.... last weekend, I went over a larger-than-usual speed hump (more like a small hill) in a London-area shopping mall parking lot.
I deliberately went slower, but did not angle.
For my troubles, I was rewarded with a loud *BANG* - when I pulled aside to inspect the damage, it looked like one of my underbody panels had been squashed slightly...

And all you older ladies and gents have me very impressed... particularly the 50+'ers who can still do a PLF and/or somersault out of the car
