If this car lasts we'll spend more time on pumpgas numbers

John
Thanks for the replay. We don’t have E85 hear. All we have is normal gas, no corn.
So I will be ok with the 10psi kit. What is the safest HP I can run and what will be the torque for that.
I am planning to get my Toyota 86 Auto in a year. Can’t afford it now. Just bout a house . Hopefully be then Toyota and Subaru would have fixed any issues with the car. And will see how reliable the boosted car & transition are.
Plus will see what other options will be there.
One more questions, what is the power numbers (HP & Torque) on the NA tune?

Thanks in advance.

So that will be about 200 WHP. What about torque?

Peak torque given peak power just tells you how inefficient the setup is at high rpm :P

But seriously, look at the threads where they compare the tuned and stock torque curves, basically you gain a significant amount at high rpm where the engine is running very rich stock, and a moderate amount in the low to mid range. Aka, no massive kick in the pants.

Just curious if you guys can enlighten me... How does the response of these turbo setups stack up against lower compression setups? How would you compare the response of the disco and the GT30r?

I'd like to hear some perspective and impressions of how the turbo responds on this engine. The dyno only shows the power output. Obviously the larger turbo is going to loose response, but when do you feel the boost is hitting hard and the throttle response is good?

I've never had a 12.5:1 compression turbo motor build before. I'd imagine that E85 and turbo would work amazing with this compression. Your thoughts gentlemen?

Higher compression would result in faster spool time and better out of boost response.

E85 would be a must in my opinion with any real boost. Sure the direct injection will help keep things cooler than solely port injection, but your just asking for trouble with 12.5:1 and 15+psi on pump gas...which is why I'd imagine they switched to e85 for the 400 build. That and timing.

I'm interested to see if 330-340whp on the disco can be had without going over 13-14psi boost with proper fuel supply and larger injectors. And I know the spool will be quicker, but I am actually really interested in the response of this engine to the turbo mods.

Every subaru I've driven has been pretty unresponsive compared to inline-4 setups because of the long exhaust runners. That's why I'm so curious how this engine responds. I think 330whp is a riot in a 2800lb car. More power is really good too, but this car gets a ton of praise for its responsiveness, I wouldn't want to muddy that.

Plus, another 100whp is only a turbo swap away with simple upgrades.

Don, how was the response on that turbo setup? I've been in the fwd SR20 game for years and that continues to be my favorite turbo because it is so responsive. How does the suby handle it?
