Lexus credit card smart key compatibility

I was wondering if anyone has reprogrammed a lexus slim credit card key shown below to work with their BRZ limited. This is a common modification on Priuschat and by my research atleast the 2014 BRZ Limited has the same FCC ID as the Prius so theoretically that means this key fob swap could work on a BRZ Limited as well.

Link to info on Lexus credit card key swap for a prius:
https://priuschat.com/threads/info-s...rt-key.163328/

Pics from the above thread:

BRZ/FRS FCC IDs:

2014 MY:
For vehicles sold in the U.S.A.
FCC ID: HYQ23AAE
FCC ID: HYQ14ACX
FCC ID: Y8PSSPLF03

The bolded/underlined FCC ID has been tested to work with the lexus smart keys so I assume if that FCC ID works for the prius to convert to a smart key then it should work for a BRZ Limited as well.

I did find this in searching, stating that the key fob would need to be "re-seeded" which is a process described in the prius chat thread. I think if you buy the new smart key brand new you don't need to "re-seed" it, that process only applies to used key fobs/smart keys.

Has anyone done this key fob swap? I think it would be much more convenient to have the key fob be a credit card in your wallet instead of the much bulkier oem keyfob.

Following. I'd like to know as I have a 2013 and I hate carrying the thick key.

This would be a very useful feature.

I'm going to bump this. Has anyone done this successfully who can illustrate the process here. I would like to lose the bulky fob and just have a card in the wallet and a slim key backup on the keychain.

Apparently the FCC ID HYQ14AEB wallet card works for the HYQ14ACX ID per many forums. I just wonder if it is possible to easily reprogram a used card. I can't see spending $250+ for a new card, plus whatever else is potentially needed. I have Techstream, so I can possibly do this myself.

That is the part number: 89994-48142.

I'm still waiting for a used one to pop up online.

If you have an FRS or GT 86 there is a chance. But if you have a BRZ most likely it will not work. Since these work similar to keyless entry. They have a specific area in the data that is in the keys that tells it it's a difference between Subaru, Toyota. and the certification ecu also has that distinction.

I see, but I don’t think that matters because the system is probably Toyota’s. I say that because my car still uses the full Techstream with key reset functions.

Yeah I will usually allows you to get up to the key functions but when you actually try to erase most people get an error. I guess it is more dependent on the year of the car. 13-14 have the older style / transponders. and 15-16 have the next gen keys. But it will not allow you to register a smart key thats not meant from a toyota/brz around. I believe its on the P1 data field in the key. ive tried changing it but no luck unfortunately.

edit: oh plus you will have to virginize a used key because it carries the vehicle ID number and the key itself too.

I was either planning to buy a new one, an unlocked one, or pay $20 to unlock it.

I stumbled upon this post while researching my own question on smart key compatibility, and I wanted to share some information that might be helpful. I also found some useful info about Online CC and Physical CC, which might come in handy for those looking to upgrade their key fob. I found a great resource at https://Brianscrabs.cm that has a lot of helpful tips and tricks for working with smart keys and credit cards. It's always great to find a community of people who are passionate about these things and willing to share their knowledge. Thanks for starting this thread, and I hope this information helps others who are in the same boat!
