I have driven both sc and turbo cars and I'd have to say that this car deserves a turbo. I've actually only driven an 86 a handful of times and even my safty conscious mother could tell you it lacks in power. I can't speak for the kit itself but what I can speak for is my research, because I know someone reading this down the road will be in the same boat as me, reading the forums and reading reviews, and this is what I have set my heart (and bank account) on for my future mods. I'm actually budgeting this kit into the price of the series.blue I'm going to look at and hopefully buy tomorrow. Ptuning will be the proud owner of a decent chunk of my bank account very soon
You will not regret it!

My only debate is still between the GT3076R vs GTX-3076R, is it worth the $500 upcharge for the change in lag. for a street car i dont know how much il gain with the GTX over the GT

You need to include your power goals and purpose for the car. If you plan on staying under 400 whp, you'd probably be better off with the 2867r

How come no one ever talks about the gtx2871r? Something I've been meaning to ask for awhile

Have you guys considered making a twin scroll option for this kit? I believe JDL is the only one offering twin scroll option and they have a top mounted set up. Would love to see a low mounted turbo kit that offers a twin scroll option.

I know they've talked about their reasons for not doing it on a different forum. Can't remember which one. Might be this one http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...=56235&page=83

ptuning briefly talked about the possibilities of a twin scroll, however getting the piping for the turbo through the small gap was the issue. I read it in the ptuning owners thread

Full-Race Motorsports have been producing a twin scroll Borg Warner EFR turbo kit for a while now.

No plans for a twinscroll and we don't see the benefit running a small frame turbo like the gt28 or gt30. Also a twin scroll setup would require the use of a header designed for twinscroll which would prevent customers from running their existing header, whether it's their stock header, UEL or EL headers.

They be restricted to the ACE lineup, with a different over pipe. Not that, as an ACE header owner, I haven't looked at it longingly.

A member pm'd me and brought up the glass box situation that is the gt86 transmission.anybody here having issues there? I've read 300wheel torque seems to be the limit. Anyone have advice besides taking it easy on the tranny?

Mostly depends on how hard you beat on it. I've had a customer who tracks/time trials every other weekend who has already done through one transmission and other customers who are pushing 400+whp on water meth/flex fuel who are still on the stock transmission.

[COLOR="black"][COLOR="black"]Hey ptuning,
How come no one ever talks about the gtx2871r on here? It seems to either be 2867 or 30. This a pure lack of knowledge on my behalf. Seems like if that is the middle sized turbo between the 30 and the 2867 then it'd be perfect for those who can't decide btwn those 2

@FRSTRM runs the GT2871R. We just haven't tested the GTX version because no customers have chosen that turbo yet haha.

The GTX2867R tops out at around 407whp on E85, stock motor on our dyno. I speculate the GTX2871R will be closer to 420-430whp with probably a tad slower spoolup. It all depends on what you're looking to achieve power wise.
