Looks like you are only one to experience this problem in the UAE. There is whole thread for this issue on this forum and it is reciprocated on my blog as well. Insides are some videos of the awkward behavior you mentioned.

I got a response from them and they said that the ECU needs to be replaced. It needs 2 weeks though

Im glad they at thay managed to fix the problem instead of giving you more headaches about it as we know how many dealers are in the UAE.. They sell cars like vegetables..

Hang on buddy, I hope those two weeks pass by super quickly..
For now I will update the rest of 86 owners here about the situation as to keep them informed about what to do in case they face the problem..

The place is like 10-15 minutes away from Festival City.

I was really looking forward to attend the gathering with my 86. Wouldn't want to attend with a Land Cruiser

I'll be coming to the international drift/time attack/ autocross meet on the 21st..
If anyone is looking for tubular front lower control arms let me know.

I'm checking but I would assume in conjuction with the Abu Dabi motor show (dec 19th -23. this event is on the Day of the 21st

If I had my car with me I would let you test drive it and compare the base model with your frs and maybe you can see if there any differences under the hood of a GCC spec.

How long you staying in Dubai? My car could be ready (cel/sl issue ecu replacment) by tomorrow.

Darn I would have loved to do this! But flying back out Sunday morning @ 1:45 am. Will b at tensai tuming later today after 6 pm till nine or so then a trip 2 the airport
