Definitely oil change before you leave. Shouldn't need one in between though.
Opti-coat Audio book(s) Cold weather survival kit Maybe even some all-season tires Take care of any annoying rattles/buzzes before you leave! |

Applying Opticoat is very easy. Make sure the car is super clean before applying. And make absolutely sure you wipe down any Opticoat streaks (or else they will be permanent).

Interstates are boring. Stick to state and federal highways.

Make sure you bring a tire psi gauge. You'll be going through some significant temp and elevation changes which will affect your tire pressure. Keeping your tires at the right psi will make sure you get the best mpg and minimize tire wear. I'm so jealous you'll get to haul ass through the Rocky Mts. in this car!

An alternative route through Utah. Grades in parenthesis is my rating of the road; + means it's usually empty or two-lane, - means it typically carries frustratingly slow tourist traffic you'll get stuck behind)
I70 Grand Junction west to UT72 Junction just past the San Rafael Swell (one part of an interstate worth traveling) (A+ for the Green River-to-UT72 section; B+ for the rest of it) UT72 south to Loa. (B+) UT24 southeast to Torrey (B) UT12 southwest to US89 (A-) US89 south to UT9 (C-) UT9 West through Zion to I15 (A-) This route will take more time than the I70/I15 combo, but it takes you past some of Utah's most spectacular scenery. Take your time and stop at the many pullouts, it's very memorable. |

I bought my FR-S in Green Bay! Some of the friendlier folks I've talked to.
If you stop by Omaha let me know! |
