Looking to purchase 86/BRZ need deal help **FOUND AND PURCHASED THANKS GUYS!!!**

Just trying to figure out how many miles are too many miles. I’m seeing deals on BRZ’s with 30-90k miles; how long are these cars lasting you guys?

Tip for the used cars, if they haven't had the throwout bearing fixed yet, plan on spending what, a grand? on clutch/tob replacement. if you hear that squeaking at idle with the clutch out, maybe negotiate the price down a bit.

Cool! What do you think around 50k miles for that replacement?

Personally I don't think mileage is the best thing to look at unless the mileage is huge or really low.

I would look at how the car has been driven and what the maintenance was like. As an example, I'd rather a car that's been driven hard with perfect maintenance than a car that's been daily driven with pretty inconsistent maintenance.

This is by far the best advice in this thread.

You need to look for the one that has not been modified, beaten to hell. Example I bought my second twin a Series 10 2013 6SP MT with 58K miles for under 13K. Super clean and drove just like a brand new car. Get familiar with all the problems the early cars had:

Leaky Tail lights
Valve spring re-call
TOB in the clutch
Leaking timing chain cover
Other minor issues

Don't be afraid of cars with some mileage. If taken care of then they last. Also you should budget for a full fluid swap on the Engine, Diff, Trans unless they can give you detail service records. I would do break fluid as well...

Yes. To preserve it's awesomeness before there were so many it became common.
