CBS picked up today.. with a scuffed up trunk lid..

Paint on the trunk lid and part of the spoiler is scuffed up. It is all scuffed up from something, possibly from the truck transport.. Definitely not glue residue from the plastic. Seems to be on both sides where the trunk lid angles down. So looks like a strap ran across it and was rubbing to me.

Have a nice foot long hairline scratch straight down the hood as well

Definitely examine that trunk closely before taking delivery.

Not the best pics. Will have to wait for daylight for better.

Passenger side trunk:

Driver side trunk (not as bad):

Wow... That sucks. Hope they are fixing it. What a way to top off the almost 4 month wait huh?

Yeah I need to take back for them to get an estimate to fix it. They gave me two options... leave it with them or bring it back. Obviously I wanted to at least drive the thing for the night. It was pretty damned obvious they should have seen it when it was detailed and then let me know or something. Bleh...

Oh well, the damn thing is fun as hell though!

wow sorry to hear man. hopefully it gets fixed up properly.

go over it with a fine tooth comb after you get it back and if they don't want to fix the imperfection's then try to get something out of it at least.

It sucks it arrived that way and I'm sorry that you have to endure a new car that wasn't taken care of in transport and delivery. The flare of the flash makes it difficult to tell but if the scuffs don't penetrate the clear it will likely compound/buff out after removing the spoiler to access the chaffed points. I would suggest having them do that rather wetsanding and re-clearing it as painting should always be the last resort for the owner but is usually a first option for the dealer.

Are those buffer swirl marks on the spoiler?

these could have come from ceiling-mounted retractable power cords or pneumatic hoses that mechanics use. i noticed most mechanics don't give a rat's ass and let the hose rub over the car's body thus scratching the paint.

probably happened during the pre-delivery inspection process

+1.

I could not believe the dealer was going to give the car like that to you, OP. At least they will fix it up.

The Dealer should have claimed Transport Damage upon receipt... Then it looks like they tried to get the Detail dept to see if they could 'fix' it... so what that means is the dealer was trying to get the $500 from the transport company...as 'extra' ..:/ .. Take it to the most reputable Body shop in town... there should be a few.. As long as you do't have to pay your good..

My BRZ had scuff marks, albeit much lighter looking (assuming the flash isn't making the damage look worse than it is) in the exact same area of the trunk as yours, on both sides. Not on the spoiler, however. I noticed it when I was inspecting the vehicle before purchase, but the marks were so light that I just figured I'd get them buffed out when I had the car detailed. I didn't even bother to mention it to the dealer.

I assumed that the marks must have been from the transport or from some other factor related to how the car was prepped/shipped. I'm usually pretty anal about dings and scratches, but these marks are so light that I haven't bothered to try to get a detail shop to remove them yet, and they haven't being catching my eye and bothering me when I walk behind the car.
